Chants of a Lifetime offers an intimate collection of stories, teachings, and insights from Krishna Das, who has been called "the chant master of American yoga" by the New York Times. Since 1994, the sound of his voice singing traditional Indian chants with a Western flavor has brought the spiritual experience of chanting to audiences all over the world. He has previously shared some of his spiritual journey through talks and workshops, but now he offers a unique book-with-audio download combination that explores his fascinating path and creates an opportunity for just about anyone to experience chanting in a unique and special way.Chants of a Lifetime includes photos from Krishna Das's years in India and also from his life as a kirtan leader-and the audio that is offered exclusively in the book consists of a number of "private" chanting sessions with the author. Instead of just being performances of chants for listening, the recordings make it seem as if Krishna Das himself is present for a one-on-one chanting session. The idea is for the listener to explore his or her own practice of chanting and develop a deepening connection with the entire chanting experience. This audio product contains a PDF with supporting material, and the PDF is available to download. Reseñas de la Crítica

“Krishna Das offers a gift of love—this candid, lively, and helpful guide to the path that opens the heart. Chants of a Lifetime is an instant spiritual classic.”
Daniel Goleman, the author of Emotional Intelligence

“In Chants of a Lifetime, Krishna Das opens a door to a world of boundless love. This is a book about a real and transformational path—including all of life’s challenges, inspiration, and uncertainty. It serves as an invitation to unwavering happiness.”
Sharon Salzberg, the author of Lovingkindness:The Revolutionary Art of Happiness

“Knowing the sweet power and depth of Krishna Das’s singing, I was delighted to see, in this honest testament, how he got there. This book shows how Kirtan (singing the names of God) enters into our spiritual heart and then lights it up.”
Ram Dass, the author of Be Here Now

“Like a night of ecstatic chanting, this book throws open the doors of the heart. Krishna Das writes like he sings: with earthy, quirky, luminous clarity. Chants of a Lifetime is a reminder that simply uttering any of the many names of the Beloved has the power to free us from ourselves, and make of our hearts an offering to the One. May we never again forget. May we never stop singing.”
Mirabai Starr, the author of new translations of John of the Cross and Teresa of Avila

Truly beautiful on so many levels. It set me straight and answered questions that I’ve had about chanting; all the while entertaining me with a great adventure.

Beautiful. Read it. Or listen.

As I listened to this book I noted all the teachings the author imparted to the reader by walking us through their life. It was good to hear about many spiritual leaders like Ram Das from a different perspective. It was good to learn about Neem Karoli Baba from other people who followed him during his life. More teachings for those of us who weren’t there to have these teachings were imparted on us directly. The chants are great to listen to which anyone can find. I listened to this book once and will listen to it again in a few months to get the most out of it. Love the chants at the end of the book!

Great lessons

Inspiring, hypnotic and uplifting. I will be listening to this audio over and over again. And what a beautiful start to the day to chant to the kirtan collection. Looking forward to seeing Krishna Das in Los Angeles this spring!

Krishna Das’ journey in this epic story had me laughing and crying. His time spent with his guru, Neem Karoli Baba, and the pain he faced after his guru left the body, opened my heart in ways beyond words. I deeply respect Krishna Das’ vulnerability and his ability to tell the many stories of his guru and the many old disciples who helped him become the man he is today.

An epic, heart opening journey

I was first turned on to the spiritual path by Ram Dass, but after absorbing his teachings I stumbled across KD. His perspective is a bit more relatable out of the rawness of his experiences. Some of his chapters left me laughing, crying, and some with chills and awe. What is even better is he is an entertaining narrator who conveys his experience with truth and love. Thank you for sharing KD, I hope our paths cross one day so I can thank you in person for sharing your wisdom and experience with the world.

Very sincere, one of the best books I’ve had the pleasure of listening to.

I really loved this book and I'm so glad that Krishna Das was reciting it himself. I have a personal belief that people who suffer as Krishna suffered are still tethered to the other side. I have also spent this year studying Neil Diamond and his personal struggle and connection to darkness, loneliness and finding his place in the world. For both of them it seems the music is what connected them to the light. Both beautiful souls deserve to feel Joy and not suffering. Through their suffering they bring beautiful light to us through their music. Music takes us to that altered state that we look for in meditation.

I'm so enamored with the chanting and harmonium that I purchased a harmonium myself a month ago and have started taking lessons. I know my review is not really talking about the book but the book is beautifully written about his intimate connection to his Guru and how this relationship saved his life. For anyone experiencing Darkness and trying to find that connection to the light this book is a blessing. Thank you Krishna Das. I hope to enjoy one of your concerts one day. I missed you by a week at Sivananda in the Bahamas back in 2019. May you experience Joy and peace for the rest of your life, whether or not you are chanting. namaste, Marcia Allen

I can't wait to listen to this a 2nd time.
