So book 1 of this series was PHENOMENAL and I was so excited to start this book because Dominus the incubus, the proprietor of the Twig and Berries who we met in book 1 was SO tantalizingly delicious sounding and I was soooo eager to read his story and guess what? LEE DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

Wow. Just WOW. Once I started this audio, I could not stop.

We’re introduced to Sebastian, a poor lil changeling Fae who nearly destroyed his human village once his powers came to be and his vampire handler who is taking him on a journey to be with an ancient Coven of Vampires who will protect him and teach the Fae how to master his power, but not before he is secreted away at the Twig and Berries, a weigh station of sorts for otherkind while his Vampire protector deals with a threat in the vicinity.

While there, he’s under the protection of Dominus, a large and VERY seggsy incubus who refuses to treat him with any type of kindness. Only respecting his word to protect Sebastian.

Sebastian is golden sunshine to Dominus’ grumpy demeanour, and their forced proximity and tempestuous bantering make for divine storytelling. They want each other so badly, both harbouring a deep physical attraction but Dominus is stunted by an emotional and ancient trauma against Fae-kind.

Sebastian is unwilling to let it stand though and he’s determined to figure out the reason, and to get Dominus to like him.

Honestly? Two things. If I was trapped at an Inn with Dominus, I too would 12/10 seduce him like Sebastian. Like nothing to lose, balls to the walls let’s go!

Also Tom’s voice work is some of the seggsiest I’ve ever listened to. Some of the scenes were so frickin hot that I was legit having my eyeballs melt in the shampoo aisle at Walmart where I was listening as I worked. Like sir, your Dominus voice should be ILLEGAL.

And three, I did NOT expect the level of 🌶️ in the seggs scenes like WOW. Lee, you blew my mind. MAD ROUND OF APPLAUSE on this one. Def worth of a SEGGS demon. WOWSA.

And the plot is so sweet and domestic that I cried at the end.
