Entertaining!
I found myself wrapped up in this story. I absolutely loved it. There were parts where I laughed out loud, and there were parts where I felt an empathy for biracial people deepening.. A great book!

On its surface, Caucasia tells the story of a young girl struggling to survive a difficult mother, distant father, and legal trouble. Throughout the story, however, deeper themes emerge on race, gender, and the search for an elusive utopia. This book is beautifully written and performed.

Still love it
This is my second time reading this book and I love it even more. I first read it in 6th grade and found comfort reading a book about a biracial girl. Now I’m 30, a biracial woman and still find the words and thoughts comforting. I definitely recommend reading!!

Interesting premise….
I really thought the premise of this book was interesting, but then it just fizzled. A lot of detail of inconsequential things… felt an English paper on descriptive imagery at times. But I really appreciated some of the subtleties of colorism that an approached here. It makes me wonder if a modern version of this book would handle this better. I stuck with it because of the strong first half.

Just okay…
I feel like the first 6 hours was a jumble of fluff and the last 6 were a jumble of a different fluff. I expected more and was a little annoyed that the story was only told from one sisters voice. I had to force myself to finish it.
