Resumen del Editor

Action in Japan!

While on assignment in Japan, Captain Action is haunted by the woman he loved and lost years ago in the underground kingdom beneath Siberia. When she mysteriously begins reappearing during his clandestine mission to witness a newly discovered power source, agent Miles Drake begins to question his own sanity.

Forces are at work to steal two naturally formed energy stones whose limitless power in the wrong hands could destroy the world. When he begins to suspect his alien nemesis, Dr. Evil, is behind these attacks, Drake has to utilize his most daring disguises ever to learn the truth and ally himself with an old vigilante hero from the past.

Now the one and only Captain Action must walk a delicate tightrope between old and new allies while attempting to discover the source of the threat to the Hearts of the Rising Sun. If he fails, mankind is doomed!

The Man from A.C.T.I.O.N.! Cap is back!!

This book provides us two Captains for the price of one. We have Captain Action and Captain Spirit. Spirit is Japanese and works for the Action Experiment. He actually trained CA, but they did not go their seperate ways on the best of terms and now that have to work together again.

Beard really does get into the era in which he is writing, the characters all speak as if they were from the 60's, and the different cultures also are pretty clearly defined. Uliana Ulanova returns along with Action Boy and the infamous Doctor Evil. CA's Russian gal pal suffers some issues as another lady returns from Cap's past.

I think that this book is better than the first. Beard has settled in, he's introduced Cap and all the players, and now he just gets to have some pulpy fun. The story reflects that, you can just feel Beard's enthusiasm for the character and the 60's spy era. Plus, he has begun to throw in some Public Domain characters, like Tony Quinn, who may seem like a familiar hero of today's comic books and movies. This is a good move, as it allows for greater growth for a character who is based off of an action figure.

Again, Wolinsky dominates the narration, and seems to be having as much fun as Beard is in writing this character. This time around, he has his footing, and does not need to feel out his characters so much. He makes this as fun as Beard wants it to be. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.
