Comedy superstar Mike Myers writes from the (true patriot) heart about his 53-year relationship with his beloved Canada. Mike Myers is a world-renowned actor, director and writer and the man behind some of the most memorable comic characters of our time. But, as he says, "No description of me is truly complete without saying I'm a Canadian". He has often winked and nodded to Canada in his outrageously accomplished body of work, but now he turns the spotlight full-beam on his homeland.

His hilarious and heartfelt new book is part memoir, part history, and pure entertainment. It is Mike Myers' funny and thoughtful analysis of what makes Canada Canada and Canadians Canadians and what being Canadian has always meant to him. His relationship with his home and native land continues to deepen and grow, he says. In fact American friends have actually accused him of enjoying being Canadian - and he's happy to plead guilty as charged.

A true patriot who happens to be an expatriate, Myers is in a unique position to explore Canada from within and without. With this, his first book, Mike brings his love for Canada to the fore at a time when the country is once again looking ahead with hope and national pride. Canada is a wholly subjective account of Mike's Canadian experience. Mike writes, "Some might say, 'Why didn't you include this or that?' I say there are 35 million stories waiting to be told in this country, and my book is only one of them."

Mike Myers offers a great history lesson about Canada and as an American I didn't know a lot about Canadians or their history but now I do thanks to this book.

Awesome book by my favorite comedian

Mike Myers captured so many highlights of growing up in Toronto in the seventies. his narration is hilarious, laugh out loud funny.

if you are fifty years old and grew up in Canada,!

I enjoyed listening to Mike Myers read his own book. I found his recollection of his childhood and growing up in Toronto compelling. I would rather hear more of his personal experience rather than the political commentary. Great for a sale or daily deal but I would have regretted using a credit on it.

Love it more without the politics

Thought it was going to be a vapid silly romp..Loved it. Well written, well performed.

I lived in Canada from 1974-1981 soam familiar with much of the time period focused on. i also look back fondly at those times.
Much of the time in my head i was thinking that this does not compute. Mike Meyers loves Canada and especially the progressive polices adapted.
I missed Canada for decades after i left, returning often to visit family and friends. I finally had to realize that i live in the USA and let Canada go. Legal marijuana, assisted suicide, and socialized medicine are not black and white issues.

Enjoyable celebrity love story

I listened to this book while my 6yo was attending day camp for Mandarin reading in Mississauga. Mike’s book is a marvelous sociological tour guide. Per his recommendation we ate at Tim Hortons and loved it.
My 6yo loves it here.
I have been in and out of government service since 1985. I find everything marvelously organized and well managed. Good governance is no easy feat. Mike’s book explores Canada as a culture and for its patriotism or lack and it’s defining characteristics that would inspire patriotism. However I wonder if these elements are over valued. Sociological writers have noted negative even destructive nature of patriotism specifically Francis Fukuyama. Maybe the extraordinary value of Canada is that government at the national end local levels is dedicated to making life quality good. I’m enthusiastically in favor of life quality like wonderful public parks and schools and public safety.
Like Marines (I served 13 years), Canadians stick their trademark flag or maple on everything. That says something about the love.
Mike’s book bemoaned the lack of national definition but maybe it’s very subtly is the point of the Canadian national definition. Thank you for a book that made me think.

Canada is a wonderful place for kids and education

Part autobiography, part history lesson, part comedy, part philosophy, and fully a great read/listen. I enjoyed Myers performance enough that I’d recommend the audiobook over the printed book.

Enjoyed very much
