An eerie, twisty ghost story about twelve-year-old Parker, who only wants a summer of fun and new friendship at sleepaway camp but ends up finding a nightmare instead!

Don't forget your flashlight. . . .

Parker Nelson can’t wait for summer camp. She’ll have fun and make amazing memories, far away from the bullies who made seventh grade unbearable.

But then something terrible happens: The mean girl who made life a living nightmare is in Parker’s cabin. Soon all the other girls turn on Parker, too—no one wants to be her friend. Except Jenny.

Jenny’s the only one who is willing to listen. The only one who understands. The only one who feels the same way Parker does: that there's a deep, dark secret to making friends and she’s the only one who doesn't know it.

But there’s something else Parker doesn’t know. Something bad happened at the camp a long time ago, and it just won’t stay buried. . . .

Delilah had done it again with yet another YA Horror/Thriller that is well paced, entertaining, and extremely relatable. The pacing is so good that I couldn’t put it down for more than a few hours before needing to listen to what happens next. I really enjoyed this book. Hits right in the feels for anyone who has experienced bullying. This is an important story for all ages.

I absolutely loved the lore about “gory tori” and how tori changed her name to jenny, the girl who bullied her and was ALSO cassandra’s mom was crazy. it was kinda sad and shocking when they were talking about how tori sh’d herself for some friends and i think thats the reason they called her *gory* tori. overall, it was a pretty good book and i would definitely read it again and i recommend it for teenagers, probably not appropriate for younger audiences ❤️

I honestly thought this was gonna be a summer camp slasher like a few recent YA books I checked out, but was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t. While there are some scary moments where preteen girls face serious injury, it doesn’t turn into a Friday the 13th knockoff. The ghost story element was sort of dropped as a hint in the synopsis, but it was an interesting take on the idea though a bit clumsy in execution.

The hardest part outside of knowing what happened to “Gory Tori” is the bullying that the main character, Parker, also endured. Having been bullied myself in pre-social media days, a lot of the nasty things said and done to Parker hit a bit close to home especially at 12 when girls can really become the cattiest and meanest beings on Earth; major experience dealing with that. So be cautious if you’re sensitive to the topic or the idea of self-harm resulting in death.
