This was a period of remarkable personalities, from the philosopher-emperor Marcus Aurelius to emperors like Diocletian, who portrayed themselves as tough, even brutal, soldiers.

Loved it , a must read
this book is very interesting and has a lot of details that are left out of other history books about the relationships of Caesar, his allies and his enemies, including family relationships. The only reason I didn't give it a five on story was due to the fact that the author did jump around a lot.
