CULLER OF BEASTS

CULLER OF BEASTS a novel by John Noone Lazarus Fallon, formerly Flynn, 1936-1960, was raised in the grim Forties, the drab Fifties, a product of established misrule and the perversities of creed and law purveyed and perpetrated in that time. Taken from his unmarried mother at birth and sent to an orphanage on the death of his adoptive parents, his rescue at the age of ten came too late to avoid the injuries of institutional abuse and neglect. To all appearances an ordinary young man, less angry than many, less disaffected than most, a national serviceman in Kenya and an undergraduate at Liverpool University, amenable and open-minded, a gentle nullifidian, his unspoken beliefs included nonetheless the right of man, motivated by moral disgust at acts of tyranny committed with impunity, to confiscate life. The beasts he culled were the predators of everyday life, who like the dragons and demons they once invented to cover their crimes, devour and destroy the lives of those around them
