When farmers Gilles and Murielle discover that Prince Henri of the kingdom of Darloque has chosen their daughter Emmeline as his next conquest, Gilles proposes a plan for their daughter to run, while her parents seek help from the old king.

But Murielle has kept a secret from her husband - a secret life which may be the only thing that can save their daughter. She must resurrect a long-dead name and seek help before it is too late for Emmeline.

Saving Emmeline is only one part of the problem. Henri wishes to be king and reignite a war that can only lead to destruction. Murielle’s quest revives old alliances and draws her secret identity into a great battle for a kingdom.

Meanwhile, the gods are not at rest. Henri’s actions have drawn the attention of long-forgotten powers. But can he be defeated?

Excellent narration for an excellent story

Great narration with no tripping on the foreign words, the tricky accents, the differentiation between characters. Very high quality audio narration with good pacing and emotional depth but not overdone (to be cringy, for example). The story itself excellent and very enjoyable.

Narrator Review

I'm the author of "By the Gods's Ears" and this is a review of the narration of my novel by Bethany Luhrs.

Bethany approached the task of narrating "By the Gods's Ears" enthusiastically, asking many questions about pronunciations and how certain characters should speak. I wrote two songs for this novel and Bethany volunteered to sing them which was a great surprise to me. Working with her on the arrangements was quite a thrill.

The voices she created for my characters amazed me. I had made up voices for each character while writing.  Some she captured exactly as I heard them in my heard, but other voices were different than I had imagined, and I actually like her interpretation better.

Bethany's reading of "By the Gods's Ears" was smooth, clear, and easy to listen to. My novel contains a variety of emotions from joy to sadness, from love to anger, and everything in between. Bethany skillfully captured the emotion of every moment and made "By the Gods's Ears" a pure joy to hear. I truly hope to work with Bethany again. I cannot recommend her enough.
