Bullets and Blondes

This book had me confused...someone breaks into your home & breaks a vase that is worth thousands & you do nothing? What the hell? Then you help said person to steal what they were originally looking for? You buy yourself another vase? Worth thousands, without blinking an eye? & then marry said person?
Way too far fetched for me, did not understand this at all!

Cute short story I picked up because I needed a short listen. Good story and narrator.

On the Fence

I received a copy of this book via Audiobook Boom for an honest review. What follows is my opinion and mine alone. There was no compensation made for this review.Okay... so, this book was interesting. It is a quick read, has action, and a fairly interesting mystery going on. However, I am on the fence with my feelings about it.Let's start with the narration and writing style. Well, the narrator chosen does a good job. I was pulled into the story and I could visualize what was going on. This goes along with the writing style. It pulls you in and I could visualize what was happening very well. The story itself wasn't bad.Then there are the characters.Yeah, they I didn't care for. The main lead seemed to be self-centered and a bit childish. Everything he did either had to do with money or the female lead. He didn't really have much in motivation beyond that. The female lead had more going for her but you really don't see much in her personality.All in all, I would consider this book quick read to pass the time. I would try the author again though.Final Rating: 3/5

Oww hell !

wonderful incredible and so intriguing this book wasn't a long one but it was such a full story I loved it the narrator was great and the story was mesmerizing with so much little details in such a short time it was everything I couldn't expect from a book in this life and it was amazing

Entertaining Short Story

This was a good short story. When I was looking for a book, I wanted something different than what I usually listen to/read. This story fits the bill. It was short, entertaining (lots of funnies), and kept my attention throughout.

The narrator did a good job. It was easy to differentiate between characters and it never got confusing as to who was talking. I’d listen to him narrate again.

Questions/Comments:

I loved how nonchalant the main female character is (forgot her name) and how she apologizes after breaking into Barry’s house like it was a simple mistake.

There’s a part when Barry goes next door to borrow some sugar and his neighbor ends up placing the sugar canister on the cupboard. Why?

There was a mess up, not sure if it was written incorrectly or just read incorrectly, but when the insurance guy comes by he questions how the case can be worth 6,000? Instead of 60k.

The Donald Duck reference was just cheesy.

Delightful, politically incorrect, heartwarming!

The moment the author used the term "magazine" instead of the oft-abused "clip" when Anna, a middle class, smart and sassy heroine reloads her pistol, I knew the author was someone I wanted to follow.

The author uses great self control to hold back Anna's name for the first 11 chapters...making the reader wonder just who the heck is this mystery woman? And so does the co-protagonist, Barry, a spoiled multi-millionaire. And with mystery comes allure.

The chemistry between the two opposites is wonderful and comedic. This book never needs to use swear words for effect.

My favorite line of the book? When the car rental clerk is trying to convince Barry to just rent a white SUV instead of the required white van for the undercover mission, he urges Barry to just use his imagination. "I don't have any imagination!" he retorts. Precious. Very few books poke fun at their protagonists but this book does it marvelously. When the bad guys hold the undercover team as hostages, they unexpectedly release them with a note handed to Anna. Turns out, Barry owned the company that they were raiding! He was so rich he didn't know what companies he owned. Hilarious.

During a spot-on debate of a McDonald's breakfast vs. fancy restaurant fare (with spinach and arugula gracing every egg), Anna holds her own against the slightly snobbish Barry who can't believe ANY human would eschew a sixty dollar breakfast for one that costs two bucks. Anna sums up the everyman's argument succinctly: "There are a lot of us out there, the majority of us, who weren't born with a silver spoon sticking out of our mouths. Those of us who have to work hard, scrimped and saved for a college education, fast food represents a cheap meal that we don't have to cook." Our elite political class look down their noses at the middle class, even as they profess to want to save it. They can't understand how anyone would desire to eat at a fast food joint. The author relates to and understands the everyman.

Fast and Fun

This was a fun quick read. As such a short story there is of course no real depth in the characters but that was ok for this read.
I have enjoyed other stories by Clark Graham and know that he can write a good story. This one was interesting and kept me listening till the end.

Good.

Interesting title, of a smart, sassy heroine, who knows how to handle a gun. Then we have Barry, with a lot of money. A good fast read story, that holds one attention with good narration by Daniel. Given audio for my voluntary review
