Narrator

The book was fantastic, but the narrator keeps calling the staff of Magias the wrong name and it's annoying.

A wonderful tale of Raistlin's youth & a fave

Excellent novel & no thanks to WOC cancelling my favorite series of all time Dragonlance

enjoyed the book from start to finish. Highly recommend it. Although I admit I thought the narrator sounded a bit like
Rod serling from the twilight zone but that might have just been me lol.

Brothers Majere

This is a really, really fun “kender tale” about who else? Raist and Caramon. I had an absolute blast with the Prelude series (some a lot more than others. But they are all fun).

Good memories of my childhood

I remember reading this book on a family vacation many many years ago (with the original cover of the Twins sitting beside a fire).

The story has held up very nicely, but that could be that I am 'seeing' it through rose-colored glasses.

My only complaint was the narrator. There were a great deal of mispronunciations throughout the whole of the book. I wish that some research would've been done prior to taking the job to read through everything.

I enjoyed this tale of the two brothers. Very light and fun. I'm curious as a Kender as to what happened with Earwig Lockpicker?

Well that's unfortunate....

Good narrator I guess... but oh boy the story. I mean I wasn't expecting Weiss and Hickman but someone who at least got the characters. and the plot holes whoa lord the plot holes!!! There are elements I assume are an homage to other writers but when Rastilin Tells Caramon when he is making Raists tea "Remember Caramon… shaken not stirred" I am assuming as a nod to Ian Fleming but really? not only is it kinda cringeworthy there are multiple times Rastilin orders alcohol but Kevin Stein uses the line in reference to making tea..... TEA!!! you don't friggin shake tea unless you just have a thing for facial burns. Earwig the kender is more a caricature of a kender than an actual character. there is so much that doesn't fit in the world of krynn. If you are looking for a good dragonlance book about one of the most popular characters then you are not gonna be happy. This is more like someone's bad fanfiction that got told about Rastilin and Caramon from a friend of a friend who actually read a dragonlance book a long time ago....If you take it on its own and just assume the characters just happen to have the same names as the dragonlance ones the story isn't god awful but its not good ether. maybe if someone gifts you this book then give it a go but I wouldn't pay money for someone's high school writing project... (SOME SPOILERS AHEAD) This part is just for the author who I hope reads this... dude...you cant reveal the villain in the first chapters of the book, show that villain do shady evil stuff then spend the rest of the book pretending like there is an intriguing battle if wits between Rastilin and the villain to find out if they are really the villain. You have basically ruined any kind of suspense or intrigue on who the villain is what their motivations are you basically lay it out for the reader from the start. what if in the Sixth Sense you outright see Dr. Crowe die his funeral and everything how would that affect the story? I mean not every story has to have a twist I get it but spoon-feeding everything to the reader kinda makes a story dull I mean Baast had a little intrigue till you beat me over the head with he moves all cat like and looks cat-ish has the name of an Egyptian cat deity did you figure out he was a cat yet do I need to hang a bell around his neck and tattoo Im a cat across his forehead? you basically did the literary version of that guy who tells a dumb joke and you don't laugh so they repeat the punchline like you didn't hear them and say repeatedly "did you get it?" over and over. your book stumbles and falls flat on its face in the first couple chapters... Tell me this? why did the villains allow the heros to just go around the city foiling your plans and you … help? give them a scroll to buy things and get around the city? you don't say turn the people immediately against the two STRANGERS one of which is a mage that they are already suspect of and have them both burned at the stake for killing the cats?. You run a friggin city you have all the lords you have a populace that is terrified so easily manipulated I mean you even set up the distrust in the first inn they went to. The people immediately go after Raistlin. Well darn they made it to the city guess we gotta help them now and not just have them picked up for questioning and then disappear never to be seen again. I am a villager, my way of life is threatened and I am terrified of a prophecy that my whole city has lived around since as far back as they can remember but what ever happened to those 2 random dudes and a kender that came to town that one day they disappeared that means all the town leaders are in a plot to destroy the world....come on now dude... there is absolutely no reason to let them run around town messing up your plan they are nobodys, vagrants outsiders to the town. If Huma showed up and everybody was like hey its Huma from the Canticle! you cant really black bag and disappear Huma but 3 random people pssht you could have stabbed them to death in the street during the festival of the eye and just be like oh those were the guys killing the cats. Who is going to care? That's what killed the story for me when I read a book I want to go on a journey with a character, explore, try to figure things out. This book is more like a bad tour of stars homes in L.A. "and over here we have the villain doing villainy and on your right we have a cat looking guy with a cat name is he a cat nobody knows... moving on up ahead we have a bunch of angry villagers grr look how angry they are" all in a numbing monotone voice.

Annoying kender...

Story was whatever. The main gripe was the annoying Kender. This was my least favorite of this series.

Its Okay but Caramon acts weird

Caramon is usually the overly positive kind happy go lucky type of person but in this book he is angry with Raistlin for not treating him well. This seems so out of character for him, especially during the end. It was jarring at times.
