Unusual

This book is the story of a young couple who meet at school and fall in love. She is a talented singer and he is a cruel and dark person. The story is in a time when clones keep people young forever but the clones are treated as non people.

This is supposed to be a teen/young adult book, but with the violence and sex it probably should have had more story line development to it as well. While the premise had potential it was held back in being fully developed.

The narration was the strongest part of the book.

This book was provided free of charge with the expectation of an honest review.

Tragedy in Karma

Brother of the Future is a tragic story of Craig a demented boy who has everything from money to looks but a heart as black as the night. I loved how creative the story was but I would not recommend it for a teenager as it does contain sexual situations and murder. I really felt for brother Craig V3 because even if he was a clone of the demented one he still had more heart, soul and humanity. Andrew Pond was absolutely utterly fantastic as the narrator he brings heart to the story. I wish I could give it a better review but I really hated how it ended. I received this book for free and this is my honest unbiased review. I would recommend this book for lovers of fantasy and scifi well over the age of 18.

A very good sci-fi novel on future AI

Stephen Hawking reminded us towards the end of his life that AI will be our downfall. I think it may be like Terminator, but I hadn’t thought about clones. Do they have souls?
A very fun and thought provoking book.

Amazing premise. From there, it's downhill.

I am so sad to see such potential wasted. The premise behind this book is intriguing. I LOVE IT, and I think an entire series could be based off it. Unfortunately, it’s presented as a novella, which is driven by extremely immature kids full of hormones living as if they are adults. I ended up disliking every single character in the story. It’s full of sexual promiscuity and filthy language, which just removes and distracts from the part of the story that’s actually interesting. If only the author would have stuck to the main story. The author does a lot of telling, rather than showing. Full of adverbs and descriptions of emotions. Lots of unnecessary reminders of the rules of cloning. In addition to that, this story supposedly takes place over a century into the future, yet (apart from the ability to clone people), technology is the exact same as today.
The narrator is a fantastic actor. I really like him as a narrator. However, he could be much better at editing. There are a lot of mouth noises and background sounds in the recording. There are also some spots that he forgot to edit out—spots where he stops and clears his throat.
So, the redeeming quality that earns two stars is that the premise is brilliant. I actually think the author is a good writer. Hopefully she can polish her writing skills and become a great author. If so, I hope she will revisit this premise one day with, preferably with mature, adult characters.
