Resumen del Editor

Imagine. You have cancer. You’ve been blasted and wasted with chemotherapy, along with every other poison the doctors could find to kill malignant cells. Most days you’re more dead than alive. Now there is one last chance for survival. Tomorrow you will be infused with your own, treated bone marrow frozen, stored, and safe in one of California’s most prestigious hospitals. Then comes the note: “We have your marrow.... pay or die.”

Okay book a little too predictable

This was a okay read although pretty predictable. Would have been nice to have been surprised at some point. Audio is okay although I couldn't stand how high pitched and whiny she played some of the characters and the bad accent of main character.

Just ok.

I was hoping to love it, since I'm looking for a new fiction series to accompany this year's spring cleaning. This didn't quite make it. The characters are a little flat, and the story itself doesn't ever really hook you .

Not bad, not great, it was OK"

What did you like best about Bone Dry? What did you like least?

Like: Gina is from the Bronx.

Dislike:The character of Faye, whining over and over again was excruciatingly painful to endure. I wanted to smack her around too. Instead, I fast forwarded it. Actually, ALL the female characters whined and whined in conversations. Frankie PLEEEEAAASE, Tony PLEEEEAAASE, PLEEEEAAASE Mr. Capello over and over again. As a nurse of 40+ years, I find her nursing interactions with patients and families inappropriate many times. Constantly saying she knew how they felt is a turn off.The entire staff calling "the kid" a brat to his face, unprofessional! Spilling Blood in the lab more than once ???? Yeah, right. Being told to lie to a patient? NEVER

What does Beth Richmond bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Very good despite having to whine over & over (as the characters)

bone dry

a great story and shows what someone will do in the name of love. That was sad that she felt tbe need to degrade herself and put other lives at risk also.

Great new series!

Gina is an oncology nurse in a San Francisco hospital. In this story, bone marrow is being “kidnaped” and held for ransom, and people are dying when they can’t pay. We see the whole cast of characters from the beginning thereby allowing us to really get to know each player and what makes them tick. Extremely well written; excellent tale. 5 stars.

I tried hard to like it, but i couldn't finish it.

What would have made Bone Dry better?

I'm a lay person, certainly not in the medical field, but the way the medical jargon was over-explained, particularly by characters in dialog. Lamb may vastly knowledgable, but she misjudged the average reader's knowledge ability to comprehend. Also, it's tough for me to enjoy a book if I can't find any likable characters in it. I hope I am the only listener who found this audiobook stultifying, and that this review is the outlier.

What was most disappointing about Bette Golden Lamb’s story?

The prose was so tiresome and the dialog so labored that a few times I stopped what I was doing and actually found myself looking at my speakers, like that confused dog in the old RCA ads, "His master's voice."

What didn’t you like about Beth Richmond’s performance?

I feel she may have done a better job with good prose, at least I hope so. Although, I asked myself, "Would you like this book more if you read it yourself instead of listening?" The jury's still out on that one.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

My first thought was, "This HAD to be self-published." I know many self-published books are marvelous, and I don't know if this actually was self-pubbed, but it was my first thought.

Any additional comments?

Maybe this book gets really good after the first half hour. I put in a few hours on three occasions to get into it because the subject matter interested me. Perhaps if I'd forced myself to hang on for one more paragraph. Maybe Robin Cook has spolied me.

Really poor choice!

The book itself is one weary repetition after another. I had to double check that I was not listening to the same chapter over and over. And the characters are irritating, especially as portrayed by the reader. Women whine and whimper and behave as though they are helpless at all times. Violence and cursing are used to cover up a weak plot. I do not recommend you waste your time or your money on this massively disappointing book.
