One night while riding by the wharf, Creed hears a gunshot. He and his coyote companion, Coconino, rush to the scene. In a forest clearing, he finds two dead men and a dying woman. Mechanical parts ring her neck and wrist, and as she whispers of her travails, the former Chinese slave dies in his arms.

Someone in San Francisco is using illegal machinery to alter and control women like her. To hunt down the perpetrator, Creed travels to the City by the Bay. His journey takes him into the depths of Chinatown, reveals a secret society, and puts old and new friends in danger.

How can Creed learn the truth before more women are changed, manipulated, or killed?

I love the story lines of James Bodaceous Creed, the new and very different technology they use and the surprise twists that are always in the story.

Engaging Listen

Bodacious Creed and the Jade Lake was a fantastic story. Mr. Fesmire knows just how to spin a great yarn. The narrating was done well. I expect to read or listen to more of this author's work. Recommended listen.

interesting twists

The Old West with Steampunk touches. Kept my intertest even tho this is not my normal genre! The storyline, character development, and narration were excellent.
This was a great stand-alone story, and now I have to get book 1 -- and watch for the next one in the series.

a twist on the zombie theme

this is book two in a trilogy. I normally hate anything zombie, but this twist is very believable in the steampunk world. I would love to see this made into a movie or tv series...

Steampunk Zombie Western. What's not to like?

This is book two of a series, but given that it revolves around a crime, it doesn't seem necessary to read to listen to them in order. The story gives me what I need there. Creed is a zombie detective with an interesting background (though since this is steampunk, his zombiedom is more Steve Austin that Dawn of the Dead). He comes across a dying woman. Chasing down the killer is going to send him in directions he couldn't have fathomed. The story moves along with good pacing and lots of interesting twists which I won't get specific about because, well, it is a detective story, right? Good listen. Well narrated.
