Resumen del Editor

The gargoyles have always been guardians. They were created to protect the citadel and the surrounding area from vampires. When one of their own finds his fated mate, some of the other gargoyles dream of finding their other half, too.

Petro has dreamed of not being alone anymore. Of having someone to share his life with and give it more meaning. When he finds a vampire while on patrol, he has no idea how much his life is about to change.

Keir is a vampire. He’s been alive longer than many of the gargoyles. But his existence has become a life of hiding during the day to avoid the sun, and avoiding people until he is forced to feed. A chance meeting changes that, and he’s forced to do the bidding of another ancient. Someone with more power over his will than anything he’s experienced before.

Fated mates and sworn enemies. A gargoyle and a vampire who will test the strength of their bond and all it means to them.

More gargoyles and vampires

I love these fated mates so much! These two were on opposite sides and yet have no choice in the draw they feel to each other. One is designed to destroy the other how can I ever work? And yet it does. I loved seeing the relationship develop and getting to know these two was a blast. Definitely want more of these characters and this world!

“I’m afraid of what will be.” - Keir

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

Story comment: I enjoy a Gargoyle story and happily lost myself in this one for a few hours. Written in alternating POV's (but not at every chapter), it has good pace, an interesting story and likeable characters.

I like the concept of a vampire / gargoyle paring and the obstacles they need to overcome to be together. Petro is patient, understanding and tired of being alone. Keir is merely existing and not really living - but someone else wants Keir for them-self. Therein lies a problem that Petro is determined to overcome.

This series has great potential and I hope we get more world building throughout the rest of the books. This one can be listened to without being familiar with Book 1, but there are some things explained in book 1 that may result in questions for book 2 if you are unfamiliar with the world.

If i'm being critical: Keir's character didn't feel complete, phrases early on like: "I’m probably older than you, gargoyle. I’ve lived in these lands before there were creatures like yourself that hunted us nearly into extinction." then toward the end "Keir asked, sounding so young and innocent." felt contradictory for a vampire that has learnt to control his thirst for blood and survived alone for more than a thousand years.

Narration comment: Allen Jeffries has a good deep gravelly voice for gargoyles, he has good rhythm and the inflections all work to bring differences and life to the characters.

But again being really critical, because performance is so important in audio: this book didn't feel as well narrated as book 1, the characters voices feel inconsistent over the book and the accents didn't quite 'fit' for me. Also, I'm someone who likes to listen to the previous book in a series before moving on to the next one and the characters voices in book 1 and book 2 are different, For me, continuity of characters is really important for a series. That being said - it wont stop me from listening to them again, nor stop me from getting book 3 when it becomes available.

I am enjoying this world and look forward to more from this author.

A sequel that is every bit as good as the first!!!

In her incredible sequel, BL Maxwell pairs a gargoyle with a vampire as fated mates. This alone is challenging enough, given that vampires and gargoyles are sworn enemies. But the vampire Keir is still able to be influenced by his sire, a brutal so and so I simply must have a long talk with the author about! Lucky for Keir, his gargoyle Petro is a seer who had dreamed that his mate was a vampire. So the citadel's directive to kill all vampires who pose a threat to humanity is tempered by Petro's knowledge that fate has something truly wonderful for him. If only Keir's vulnerability to his sire can be disrupted. Let's face it, folks! I paced the floor and punched a few pillows listening to the audiobook. Beautifully narrated by Allen Jeffries, the characters of 'Blood Beneath Stone' came to life magnificently. This was extremely well done!

"I am yours and you are mine."

A gargoyle created to destroy vampires. A vampire who cannot escape the evil influence of his maker, as much as he may want to. They are fated, togather they must find a way to be free in order to live the live they are meant to.
Great second instalment in this series.
I loved Allen Jeffries’s accents for both Keir and Pedro.

Gargoyle + Vampire = Fated Mates

"I am yours and you are mine." Blood Beneath Stone was another wonderful audiobook by the brilliant BL Maxwell and Allen Jeffries. They really are the dynamic duo when it comes to audiobooks :)

Allen Jeffries does a wonderful job narrating both a gravelly-voiced gargoyle and an Irish-accented vampire. His narration for both Petro and Keir is really spot-on. It's perfect and just as great as Stone Under Skin. It was great hearing some familiar voices in Blood Beneath Stone and visiting the gargoyles again.

Blood Beneath Stone picks up after Ethan and Ankit's story ended in Stone Underneath Skin. After Marius is defeated by Ethan, Ankit, Jonnah, and the other gargoyles, Petro and his team are cleaning up the city and sweeping the area for rogue vampires that were supporting Marius. Petro (a gargoyle) who dreams about his fated mate every night suddenly finds himself chasing him one day as he is sweeping the city. Keir is simply a vampire that exists and feeds in secrecy while hiding from the gargoyles. When the two meet, both of them immediately know their fates are intertwined and they belong together. From that point on, they can't escape the other or live without each other.

Allen Jeffries does a brilliant job bring all of the emotion in Petro and Keir's voices to life. You can hear how Petro is patient, loving and kind while he waits for Keir to come back to him. Even if he has to wait another lifetime, Petro will because he knows his fated mated is out there. Keir, stubborn and resisting the pull, tries to deny himself and escape Petro only to find himself crossing paths with his evil maker, Andreas. As Keir's maker, Andreas can control Keir and make certain that he never wanders too far from his clutches. You can hear the struggle that Keir and Petro go through as they try to break Andreas' control on Keir. Finally, the inevitable happens and Petro finally finds Keir when he is starving and almost dying. From that point on, they battle Andreas and break the bond he has on Keir. Gargoyles, vampires and Jonnah battle Andreas and his evil for love to win.

I love Allen's ability to shift voices between all the different characters. It truly is an amazing feat. I love his growly/gravelly voice as Petro and of course, the Irish accent as Keir. His voice brings to life the love, passion, and dedication that Keir and Petro have for each other. I can't wait to hear more from Allen Jeffries as he teams up with BL Maxwell to narrate more audiobooks for all to enjoy. As always, a brilliant 5 star (Audible only lets me give 5 stars) audiobook!

loved it

I loved this book. Allen Jeffries does an amazing job of bringing this story to life and making you love the character even more. The gargoyles are free from a crazy vampire who controlled them. And after Ankit find his fated one. The other gargoyles dream of finding the one for them. Petro is on patrol to hunt the remaining bad vampires. When he finds the one he has dreamed of for so long. But turns out he a vampire named Keir and he has lived far longer than the gargoyles. Keir's maker causes trouble and forces Keir to do his biding. Petro has to find a way to save Keir. Will Petro and Keir's bond be enough to save them both?
