Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry.

A wealthy developer has turned up in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry with the aim of building a luxury golf course. It will mean buying up nearby farmland, and the locals are bitterly divided over the scheme. Then one of the leading opponents is found dead in a murder staged to look like an accident. The Bunburry police are on the case, but so is self-made millionaire and amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister, backed by his elderly friends Liz and Marge, fellow members of the Bunburry Triangle.

As they all uncover other longstanding mysteries and secrets, police officer Emma Hollis enlists Alfie's help. But Alfie decides to delve further than he was asked. Has his meddling jeopardized the discovery of who the murderer is?

Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series "Piece of Cake". He is also the lead in the BBC series "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries", based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audiobooks to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

The character and her negativism is just getting to be too distracting from the rest of the book. I am so annoyed that I want to skip over any part in which she is included,

Marge is Getting Distracting

This was fun just because the characters are terrific, however, I do not remember Marge being so unpleasant. She was very disagreeable in this episode and the Bunburry triangle non existant.

Entertaining but short on mystery

A nice story and great interplay. The only thing I wish is that he had been able to propose.

Always great

I really love these stories. The characters are wonderful. I was hooked from the first story.

Great series!

I always enjoy the stories in this series. Lovely characters and great narration. Looking forward to the next one!

Wonderful as usual

The story had several twists that keep the reader guessing to the end. I just wish Archie would pop the question and get on with life, but that never seems to happen in cozy mysteries.

The Bunberry Triangle strikes again

Ok, I’m hooked! Best combination of reader, lovely characters, and stories. Love Marge and Debbie - they are drawn so humanely—and relationships are so nuanced. Can’t wait for the proposal and wedding, episodes 20 and 21?

Characters. Humor.

I was so happy to see this new release of Bunburry. Lovely as usual. Excellent narration and the best characters ever

Charming as usual

The stories in this series are generally enjoyable. Contrary to my previous review in which I said I would continue the series in spite of the changes in the characters Marge and Alfie, I don’t think I will read the next book when it comes out. Marge’s character is so hateful I just can’t listen to her again and don’t believe the other characters actually would either. Alfie has now lost all balance and common sense and behaves and/or thinks like an angst-ridden adolescent. Too bad. The story lines are good and I enjoyed the characters as they were written in the earlier books, but I can’t listen to them as the caricatures they have become.

Enjoyable storyline but can’t listen to this series anymore

While I still love this series and was excited to see a new book out, I was disappointed. The writing is still strong, and the characters quirky and immensely likable (especially Oscar! I wish he had his own series.), though Marge was grumpier than usual, but the plot was meh. The mystery was set up well, but there were few actual clues, and the ending was rushed. When the murder was revealed, it felt like just a few short sentences, then everyone moved on. Hopefully the next one will be better.

This one fell flat
