Every now and then, a simple yet radical idea shakes the very foundations of knowledge. The startling discovery that the world was not flat challenged and ultimately changed the way people perceived themselves and their relationships with the world. For most humans of the 15th century, the notion of Earth as ball of rock was nonsense.

The whole of Western natural philosophy is undergoing a sea change again, forced upon us by the experimental findings of quantum theory. At the same time, these findings have increased our doubt and uncertainty about traditional physical explanations of the universe's genesis and structure.

Biocentrism completes this shift in worldview, turning the planet upside down again with the revolutionary view that life creates the universe instead of the other way around. In this new paradigm, life is not just an accidental byproduct of the laws of physics. Biocentrism takes the listener on a seemingly improbable but ultimately inescapable journey through a foreign universe - our own - from the viewpoints of an acclaimed biologist and a leading astronomer. Switching perspective from physics to biology unlocks the cages in which Western science has unwittingly managed to confine itself.

Biocentrism shatters the listener's ideas of life, time and space, and even death. At the same time, it releases us from the dull worldview that life is merely the activity of an admixture of carbon and a few other elements; it suggests the exhilarating possibility that life is fundamentally immortal. Biocentrism awakens a new sense of possibility and is full of so many shocking new perspectives that the listener will never see reality the same way again.

This is a fascinating book about the idea that life creates the universe, not the other way around. It is interesting to me that scientists can swear to you that such-and-thus theory HAS to be correct because there just is no other way it can be. Then a number of years later, they discover that they didn't know about this or that which makes such-and-thus impossible. I love that! But the thing I loved most about this book was the fact that the theories the author postulates come closer and closer to my understanding of the universe as proposed by an obscure, unlearned boy-prophet in the 1820s and '30s. It stays constant while scientific findings orbit around it, and now and then hits something right on. Wow, my testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ just shot through the roof!

Truth is where you find it

If you're interested in alternative views of reality then this may very well interest you. The reader is a bit dry but the information is put in an easy to understand way.

Excellent

For a newbie to QT and Biology, this was a well written book that provided a great foundation to build

Perspective changing

This is a weighty subject, however, the writers' treatment of the subject was thoroughly enjoyable. There were times that I felt my mind wander and would have to go back and listen to those portions over. I definitely want to read more about biocentrism.

A weighty yet engrossing title

This is my favorite audiobook by far. The narrative is professionally appealing. I've listened to this book a dozen times.

Refreshing I and insightful

He went rather fast some parts so I had to rewind a couple times. I imagine it would be an easier read. Overall, I loved it!

A very new and refreshing view on life.

I enjoyed the book. I understand that his main focus is consciousness and it’s ability to manifest what we perceive. The need for a human observer, for example, to receive sensory information in order to create the world that we experience makes sense. However, this information must originate from a source. This would be what Max Planck calls the Matrix of all matter.

So I really don’t see a separation of the concept of the observer producing the reality they perceive and the matrix of an intelligible universe from which, and through which, our perceptions are made manifest.

And finally, the deriding of the Many Worlds theory by Hugh Everett, and even String theory, seemed odd. I’m not sure why the concept of Biocentrism would necessarily negate or diminish the value of either theory, especially when they are not opposed to Biocentrism directly. You need to have both the source of sensory input, and the observer, for all of this to work. Overall, highly recommended.

Fantastic Book. But it’s missing something

Fascinating insight !! I am more convinced that God is the consciousness that holds the universe together.

With the start of the large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, the scientific journey of a life time is just beginning. Looks like a quantum leap for the Quantum Theory of everything (maybe).

I would guess that most of us ,that have a layman's interest in Quantum Mechanics, get through explanations of quarks (Charm, Up, Down, Strange ...) and maybe the double slot demonstration .. but things get very counterintuitive when the human observer instantaneously establishes the states of entangled photons just by trying to measure one of them ... even though they are billions of miles apart. Richard Feynman helped me a little with his sixth lecture in "Six Easy Pieces". But, I have been stuck for the last 20 years...

Hold the phone .. Dr. Lanza (stem cell cloning, etc) has an idea .. in fact a theory of Biocetrism that may help us understand QT. And also provide an explanation of the role of the observer.

Fun book! Easy read. Very non-technical (maybe to it's detrement). Great auto-bio skeches of the author's life experiences.

I wish everyone would read this book! It really highlights what we don't know and why we don't know it in a revolutionary way

Enlightening!
