Resumen del Editor

Prof. Ewart Masters spends his convalescence, following a car accident, at the home of his nephew Jason Masters, pursuing his studies of ancient civilizations, during which he makes startling discoveries about the hidden city beneath the Yorkshire moors. His search to unravel the mystery of the green figurines, his efforts to assess the implications of Robert Krug's manuscript, lead ultimately to Devil's Pool and the surviving world of Lh'yib, culminating in a series of dream-like adventures as he wanders through the nightmare corridors of his new environment.

Beneath the Moors is primarily Gothic in atmosphere, its brooding mystery and stark terror occasionally relieved by bits of quiet charm and subtle humor. And the author's straightforward "autobiographical" technique possesses an element of immediacy seldom achieved in this type of narrative.

YES YES YES

Beneath the Moors is worth hearing for many reasons, the first of them being that it's Brian Lumley and you need to hear all of his books as they are written by the second reason to listen to it, Joshua Saxon!

Joshua's vocalizations of Brian's words are a master class in voice acting at one point in listening to the soft yet forceful tone of his voice I was instantly reminded of the late and great Christopher Lee during his time playing in the movies The Lord of the rings!

the evocation of that vocal style gave me such a great mental image that it made the book even more enjoyable!

while the audio version is just over 3 hours you immediately want to listen to it again because of the way it is recited to you.

there is something in Joshua's voice that gives you a very Tim curry-esque kind of feeling to the way he recites Brian's words but in the end it is all Joshua Saxon having a field day in the studio enjoying what he does and providing you with the fruits of his labor.

the book itself gives you more into the Cthulhu mythos than other authors have provided and told from a unique perspective of those that go in search of the old ones and the creation of the world in which we know and the dark depths that lie beneath the Moors!

Great Performance from Narrator Joshua Saxon

Great Performance from Narrator Joshua Saxon

However, for me the story started falling apart for me around an hour and 40 minutes into the book
Found it hard to fallow in some parts. No matter how hard I tried I could not get into this book, Listened
To it twice because I wanted to see if giving it a second listen might help.
My Finale Score for this book is 3.5 stars
