Lent is not so much a season for discipline as it is a season for transfiguration, a time for letting ourselves be illumined once again by the hope created by the Gospel. The light of that hope, which shines not only on Tabor but also on Golgotha, shows us the truth of silence, death, obedience, doubt, and repentance.
