Gain confidence and focus by using visualization techniques to sharpen your mind and bring out your athletic potential.
Being able to prevail over obstacles and opponents gives you a boost in confidence that carries over to your school and personal life, improving your performance in those areas as well.
Unfortunately, you can’t win all the time. Sometimes, you have a bad day, or you simply get outplayed, and you end up doubting yourself and your athletic abilities. These feelings of worry, uncertainty, fear, doubt, or anxiety will make it difficult for you to perform consistently well. But with time, some effort, and the right knowledge, you can take control of your confidence.
Now is the perfect time to unlock the power of your mind so you can boost not just your confidence but your athletic abilities as well. Think back to your previous experiences. Did you ever experience bouts of doubt or anxiety before the start of a game? Have you ever found yourself unable to perform during a game’s most stressful moments? Have you ever spent so much time in practice but felt that you have made no progress at all?
There are solutions to those issues, and you can find them in this book. In this timely, important guide for young athletes, you’ll discover:
- Why you may not be getting the most out of your practice sessions, and what you can do from now on
- Why you sometimes don’t feel the “flow” when playing or practicing

- The surprising and proven performance benefits of visualization
- The crucial factor in your athletic performance that’s just as important as physical fitness
- Proven ways to use sports imagery to make your thinking process more disciplined

What I love about this book is that it’s universal ! Being clutch is not just about athletic prowess but it can spill into all aspects and walks of life.
Like the author states, being clutch is a lifestyle.
The author also discusses training the mind in addition to training the physical body.
Learning how to deal with emotions is extremely important - mind over matter.
We’re encouraged not to allow our emotions get the best of us. The author states,
“Get out of your head and back in the game”. This is brilliant ! We need to stop over thinking and just have fun, and don’t worry about being perfect. This section was extremely liberating.
I truly enjoyed the Section on visualization. The author lists studies and let’s us know that visualizing can have similar effects as the actual physical manifestation. I’m going to a Vision Board event tomorrow and this mindset is exactly why vision board gatherings are creating.
The author also informs us that it’s important to be consistent with visualization, and that the reason it’s so effective is that the brain doesn’t know the difference between what you imagine and what actually is.
Lastly, two important takeaways from this book : “The only thing you do in your head game is win” and “The only limitations you have are the ones you set for yourself”. WOW! Brilliant.
I recommend this book to everyone, not just athletes! I’m using both hands and feet on this one — 4 thumbs up!!
I’m CLUTCH! Awesome book!
