Resumen del Editor

“I’ve had many amazing adventures in my life. Some stories, though, I have only ever shared with my friends. … Until now!”

Dame Joan Collins has always believed that one should retain some mystery in life and hide a knowing smile behind one’s shoulder pads. In her new book, she returns in dazzling form to share her most memorable moments from her eclectic and vibrant life—in and out of the limelight. Behind the Shoulder Pads will take you on a spectacular journey from her early years as a young star in Hollywood to stamping her stilettos in Dynasty; from the glittering heights of Saint-Tropez to the busy Oscars seasons in LA over the years.

Joan writes movingly about her adventures with and grief for her sister, Jackie, delves deeper into the ups and downs of love and relationships, and discusses her happiness with husband Percy. Filled with a cast of household names and Hollywood icons, Behind the Shoulder Pads is a spectacularly entertaining tour de force bound to delight and shock in equal measures.

Hilarious, intimate, and completely spellbinding, Joan invites you into her life like never before, sharing the stories she only tells her closest friends.

Very entertaining

I’d say this book provides you with everything you’d hope for. It was an enjoyable read, particularly with Joan Collins narrating. I say that not just because she has a lovely, expressive voice but because she’s also quite an impressionist when it comes to sharing what others have said. Lots of fun.

Dame Joan does it again!

This book is very entertaining. Dame Joan’s reading of colourful anecdotes from her “lucky life” is great. The greatest takeaway is to be grateful—to stay positive. It’s not always easy as everyone gets good and bad thrown at them but if we don’t let it get us down. If we stay buoyant, life is a wonderful thing. Thank you Dame Joan…for everything! XO

Classic Joan Collins

Having listened to Joan's autobiography, Past Imperfect, I was looking forward to listening to her latest work. This book is light-hearted, funny, interesting and full of amazing stories from behind-the-scenes. Joan is frank and pulls no punches in her storytelling. We hear more about her childhood, her complex relationship with her sister and her twenty year old marriage with Percy. I particularly loved the chapter about Nolan Miller, the designer from Dynasty. A great listen...you will love it!

What a fun book!

What an entertaining book, I was hooked from chapter 1 and found myself lingering in the car to finish chapters.

So disappointing!

I've always been a fan of Joan Collins and thoroughly enjoyed reading some of her other memoirs. I thought hearing her read this latest one herself would be a treat - and it was at first. The book starts with an assortment of stories from her career, including some delicious gossip. But about halfway through it felt like she was just throwing in whatever she could as filler. An entire chapter was devoted to the decor and toasts from her wedding to her current husband, as well as multiple appearances by him talking about how fabulous she was. After the next chapter went into details about various issues with her luxury apartments, I just couldn't listen anymore. I think she's mined her life for books multiple times and this was just the leftover material - do yourself a favor and stick to the earlier ones!
