Acerca de esta escucha
New York Times best seller • ECPA best seller • "When it comes to the intersection of race, privilege, justice, and the church, Tasha is without question my best teacher. Be the Bridge is THE tool I wish to put in every set of hands." (Jen Hatmaker)
Winner of the Christianity Today Book Award • A leading advocate for racial reconciliation calls Christians to move toward deeper understanding in the midst of a divisive culture.
In an era where we seem to be increasingly divided along racial lines, many are hesitant to step into the gap, fearful of saying or doing the wrong thing. At times the silence, particularly within the church, seems deafening.
But change begins with an honest conversation among a group of Christians willing to give a voice to unspoken hurts, hidden fears, and mounting tensions. These ongoing dialogues have formed the foundation of a global movement called Be the Bridge - a nonprofit organization whose goal is to equip the church to have a distinctive and transformative response to racism and racial division.
In this perspective-shifting book, founder Latasha Morrison shows how you can participate in this incredible work and replicate it in your own community. With conviction and grace, she examines the historical complexities of racism. She expertly applies biblical principles, such as lamentation, confession, and forgiveness, to lay the framework for restoration.
Along with prayers, discussion questions, and other resources to enhance group engagement, Be the Bridge presents a compelling vision of what it means for every follower of Jesus to become a bridge builder - committed to pursuing justice and racial unity in light of the gospel.

It's no longer news to most of us that our society has a deep-seated racism problem. Christians of all ethnic and economic backgrounds are tired of seeing the ugly legacy of racism play out before their eyes and feeling ill-equipped to respond. Racism presents itself as an undefeatable foe - a sustained scourge on the reputation of the church. In Faithful Antiracism, Christina Barland Edmondson and Chad Brennan take confidence that Christ has overcome the world, including racism, and offer clear analysis and interventions to challenge and resist its pernicious power.

Daniel Hill will never forget the day he heard these words: "Daniel, you may be white, but don't let that lull you into thinking you have no culture. White culture is very real. In fact, when white culture comes in contact with other cultures, it almost always wins. So it would be a really good idea for you to learn about your culture." Confused and unsettled by this encounter, Hill began a journey of understanding his own white identity. Today he is an active participant in addressing and confronting racial and systemic injustices.

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

In contrast, scripture declares that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made.

Historia
During our chaotic times, discover five forgotten values that can spark internal growth and help us reconcile our Christian faith with the complexities of race, sexuality, and social justice. Most believers live in the state of "being a Christian" without ever being deeply formed by Christ. Our pace is too frenetic to be in union with God, and we don't know how to quiet our hearts and minds to be present. Our emotions are unhealthy and compartmentalized.

American evangelical Christianity has lost its way. While the witness of the church before a watching world is diminished beyond recognition, congregations are torn apart over Donald Trump, Christian nationalism, racial injustice, sexual predation, disgraced leaders, and covered-up scandals. Left behind are millions of believers who counted on the church to be a place of belonging and hope. As greater and greater numbers of younger Americans bleed out from the church, even the most rooted evangelicals are wondering, “Can American Christianity survive?”

Race is one of the hardest topics to discuss in America. Many White Christians avoid talking about it altogether. But a commitment to peacemaking requires White people to step out of their comfort and privilege and into the work of anti-racism. Dear White Peacemakers is an invitation to White Christians to come to the table and join this hard work and holy calling.

Reseñas de la Crítica
“There’s much talk about reconciliation - both in our larger culture and in the Church. This is good but if we’re not careful, we’ll end up with much more talking, analyzing, and self-righteous finger-pointing. Certainly, words matter but they seem empty without a deep commitment and embodiment. This is why I’m grateful for Latasha Morrison’s book, Be the Bridge. Morrison has written an incredibly timely and necessary book that's pastoral, prophetic, and practical. But most of all, it’s very personal. In other words, Morrison embodies what she preaches as a genuine bridgebuilder.” (Rev. Eugene Cho, founder of One Day’s Wages and author of Overrated)
“When it comes to the intersection of race, privilege, justice, and the church, Tasha is without question my best teacher. Be the Bridge is the tool I wish to put in every set of hands. Put frankly, if we followed the path she writes about, the path of humility and repentance, courage and action, we would see the end of racism. It really is that simple. Tasha is one of the most important leaders in my generation.” (Jen Hatmaker, New York Times best-selling author of For the Love and Of Mess and Moxie)
“This book is a must-read primer for anyone seeking to be a peacemaker rather than just a peacekeeper. Latasha Morrison equips and encourages us to do the difficult but necessary work of dismantling the walls of systemic racism, confronting implicit racial bias while establishing an anti-racist purpose. For those wanting to understand and embody the deeply woven fabric of racial reconciliation and anti-racism work, this book will expose, educate, elucidate, and ultimately make you an intentionally conscientious neighbor.” (Pastor Darryl Ford, Ikon Community Church)

personal awakening
I am a lifelong conservative. That said, I am humbled by what I have learned from this (and other) books this year. In Be the Bridge, I found myself challenged, even sometimes in disagreement, and then the author would close the gap and make perfect sense. I highly recommend this book IF you are willing to look honestly at both historical facts and deeply held beliefs. It will change your perspective.

Become a bridge builder!
I am reading this June of 2020 if that tells you anything. Oh how grateful I am that Tasha did not shy away from the call on her life to fight for Kingdom work! This is a must read to clearly hear the heart of our brothers and sisters that have been marginalized for far too long and to truly self examine your own life in how you can begin to start conversations and step into the uncomfortable places knowing on the other side of this God will get all the glory in our efforts to create a unified Bride of Christ.

Hard to read but so worth it!
This book is so worth reading. I confess that at times, I felt so unwilling to agree with the author, until I realized that it was my pride and the fact that I didn't want to accept that I had sinned in my heart with racism and prejudice. If you read this book with a humble posture, allowing God to expose your heart, then God will accomplish much in you, through this book.
