THE DREAM DESTROYED....
General Aleksandr Kerensky is dead. The Pentagon Worlds are in flames. The dream of a Star League-in-Exile is over, shattered by civil war. Amid the chaos, Nicholas Kerensky leads those who will follow him on a second exodus to the world of Strana Mechty.
Yet unlike his father, Nicholas must choose a different path: He wants to do away with all that was, and create an entirely new order. However, the bounds of society that go back millennia cannot be shed so easily. Resistance must be overcome, and blood must be spilled before Nicholas' dream can be achieved. But without his brother Andery's help, the entire venture is doomed before it even begins.
Brothers, however, don't always share the same goals. And as more aspects of civilization are purged in the relentless forging of this new society, Andery fears the worst of human nature will arise. Can he find a way forward and stay by his brother’s side…or will Nicholas’ ultimate vision be realized as everything Andery stands against?

well written

My complaint is that sometimes the angst, or tortured anger of Andry’s internal thoughts is so constant that it’s grating after a while. And there were definitely times where Andry was speaking aloud and I could not tell because his internal thoughts were so angsty that I didn’t know which was which.
Very happy otherwise, and if that’s really just how the book is, then I think the narrator did a very good job.
Interesting story, performance was tough at times

the narration is extremely well done. High praise for their talent and ability to bring the text to life. That being said, for lack of better words, Andery is an insufferable pansy. Throughout the books he has little to no growth as a character in virtually any positive light. I understand he essentially exists to keep Nicholas in check with his humanity (despite being a clear sociopath) he literally fails at every turn. he hates his name yet feels he should be given whatever he wants because who he is. The vast majority of the books are his whiny and insufferable inner monologue. If only he said 90% of what he thinks, he may be an easier character to enjoy... maybe. I personally believe they've done him a disservice and couldn't imagine a son of Kerensky to be such a child. Just my opinion.
The information given on the exodus and the perspective of the Clans creation is very well done. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing to establish the lore but Andrey sucks.
Insufferable character development
