Savage madness seizes vampires worldwide. Relentless hunger gnaws, no matter how many drained, withered mortals litter the street.

Not since the Black Death has Owain ap Ieuan seen anything like the fatal disease sweeping across the world—but this time vampires are the victims. The anarchs suspect a plot by their elders. The elders blame the Sabbat who lurk in the darkest shadows. The Sabbat fear the return of the Antediluvians—and no one is ready for them.

There is opportunity in chaos, but Owain has long been the servant of many masters. As the Masquerade crumbles around him, whom will Owain serve? The Camarilla? The Sabbat? The Antediluvians? Or himself?

This is the first book of the new Blood Curse Trilogy, interwoven with plots and characters from the ongoing Grails Covenant Trilogy.

THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE by Gherbod Fleming is a story of Owain, a 1000 year old Welsh vampire who just happens to be still the same petty jerk he was millennia ago, and the plot against the city of Atlanta as well as other cities via what appears to be the Daughters of Cacophany. Which is an odd set of villains. I like the writing generally but Owain is such a terrible jerkass and the other vampires either Sabbat or former Confederates (much takes place in Atlanta) that it is hard to get too invested in their troubles. Still, I really loved the narration and the proper Welsh accent involved with the lead (so I recommend the audiobook).

Excellent vampire tale
