Bridget and Shep are Adorable

Super cute and I loved the humor and sex-ploration plan. Jason and Lili are wonderful.

The Author Made The Main Character Sound Stupid

Narration was good but didn't care for the story as the author made the female lead sound juvenile and stupid. The story really didn't flow well. It was not what I expected.

Proving a theory has never been this fun

Technically, Bang Theory isn't my first audiobook penned by Lili Valente nor my first with her and Jason Clarke narrating. Nope, that honor goes to Friends with Bang-i-fits, the prequel to The Bangover and available on SoundCloud for free listening for a short period of time. That short listen left me impressed with this particular narrating duo--I'd already loved listening to Clarke in the past, but I had no clue that Valente did voice-over work as well, and what I heard had me surprised in the best ways possible. That being said, Bang Theory is my first full-length listen to these two, and having already read the book, I wanted to see how they would bring Valente's story about two best friends, Shep Strong and Bridget Lawrence, figure out how to make a relationship that goes beyond friendship work and if it would be worth it considering one is a rock star drummer who's usually out of town recording, performing, or touring and the other is a B&B owner who prefers staying exactly where she is. Oh, and there are also the pesky complications of avoiding the ire of Bridget's older sister should she ever find out, keeping their feelings from the rest of the band and her friends, and leading different lives. Did I forget to mention there's a stalker, too?

I love the author's brand of humor, which is a fun blend of witty and slapstick, and she balances it quite nicely with a lot of heart and heat. Bridget is both beautiful and smart, but she is a wee bit lost when it comes to the fine art of seduction, which is where Shep comes in. He could teach her a thing or ten, but Shep's feelings for Bridget are very real, and the last thing he wants to do is to mess up their friendship, especially given that should anything happen between them and they do become a couple, nothing could ever come of it given Bridget's anxieties about being away from their hometown of Hidden Kill Bay. There were a number of times that I actually laughed out loud because of the stuff that Bridget would say or do, and Shep is the guy who's always been her zen, giving her heart and mind peace. Their evolving relationship, of course, went through its trials, but while there was a hint of angst, this was every bit the kind of rom-com that you'll want keeping you company through your headphones/earphones. Having Lili Valente and Jason Clarke narrating takes everything to a whole new level of listening pleasure, with Valente perfectly bringing Bridget to life and no one better than Clarke becoming Shep. Valente and Clarke are a fantastic duo of narrators, and have left me wanting to listen to more. Bang Theory snags five stars. ♥
