Mr. Darcy is rich, well-connected and handsome, but he is also exhausted, broken-hearted and afraid. Can Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet find happiness together?

Fitzwilliam Darcy’s father was an unreliable rake who brought their family much trouble before his death. Darcy’s fears are potent, but his resolve to care for his sister and mother is strong.

Darcy’s uncle, the Earl of Matlock, has gone into debt and may lose his estate. He plans to force Georgiana Darcy to marry his son to gain access to her dowry, and Lady Catherine may ally with him due to Darcy’s reluctance to marry her daughter Anne.

Elizabeth finds herself drawn into the struggles with Darcy’s relatives and threats to his beloved mother and sister. Darcy is mesmerized by Miss Elizabeth of Longbourn, even as she becomes enamored with his gallant heart. Can love overcome their circumstances?

This novel is a sweet and clean, low angst Pride and Prejudice variation where all of the Bennet sisters have happy endings, with a satisfying epilogue.

So confused as to why the narrator had an African accent? SO distracting the entire book. I had to re-read paragraphs so many times the enjoyment of a really different take on Pride and Prejudice was reduce drastically. I already hate and refuse to listen to or buy ANY book with virtual voice to have this book be so good but the narrators voice distract from it was sad. The narrator had a nice voice, just not for this book. The book itself was great. Wickham wasn't a villain and a son was born to Mrs. Bennett late in life. I love the epilogues, they really support the great ending. I voice for these books since America is so screwed up right now. It was never all that great for a black woman, and yes these books with the great landowners more than likely had slaves or, sharecroppers I pretty much prefer not to think of that and I'm glad the authors often omit that part unfortunately. I just prefer low angst ( I have enough angst and pain in reality) without the very explicit sex scenes that has infiltrated all of the 21st. century books. I do appreciate love scenes, but the sex scenes start taking over the plot! Hard to find good books nowadays. Other than the narration I enjoyed this book.

Finally, Wickham is not a villain!

I thought this variation was different and interesting, and I enjoyed the story. However, the choice of narrator seemed odd. Although I found the narrator‘s voice lovely and intriguing, it didn’t seem to fit with what is usually equated with characters from the time frame of Regency England. (Increasing the speed to 1.2 was helpful for me.)

Interesting Variation

The story was interesting due to some differences in the characters character. The narrator made this story extremely difficult for me to stay engaged.

Difficult to listen to

A very interesting twist that includes Lady Anne Darcy cruel Matlocks. It’s odd to find yourself hating characters that are usually just insufferably arrogant!
Wrong choice of narrator for this story. I loved her voice but this is not the genre for her to shine.

How Wicked

The narrator in this book was terrible. She mispronounced 20% of the words and put the emphasis on the wrong places when she read. She really should not narrate books. The story itself was good but it was a genuine struggle to listen to the whole thing and to follow the storyline.

I am sorry to say this but the narrator nearly ruined this book.
