Could have been great

The plot is very exciting! Decent characters as well. However, the story gets a little repetitive after the half way mark. Also, there are some inconsistencies w/ many of the characters - for e.g., Isabella is supposed to be this badass knight handpicked by the Pope to get the job done, but she seems to possess very few skills once inside the cave and looks up to Drake for guidance. Then there’s Benson who’s the big guy who supposedly doesn’t know how to swim - and he’s a reaper, seriously? And then there are some cheesy dialogues when they are facing death…

I am a big fan of Greig‘a books and loved the plot of this one. But it just felt like rushed after the half way point and not a lot of thought put into polishing it.

The Devil Escapes

Love Grieg Beck’s novels. Fell in love with the Arcadian series, and continue to enjoy all his writings. Sean Mangan is an excellent story teller. Enjoy his readings immensely.

I wish there were more books to continue this series

Great characters with fantastic and unpredictable world building, that keeps you wanting one more page before you need to go.

Poor choice of narrator

I just could get interested. The narrator kept insisting that I take a nap. I guess it would be good for a put me to sleep book. I would like to listen to a different narrator to see if the books any good.
