Acerca de esta escucha
Do you crave intimacy but feel overwhelmed when someone gets too close? Are you torn between wanting love and protecting your independence? Do you withdraw when emotions rise, leaving you feeling misunderstood or emotionally drained? Or are you in a relationship with someone who struggles to open up, commit, or show affection?
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and the good news is, it doesn’t have to be this way. Avoidant attachment is more common than you think, and while it may feel like an unchangeable part of who you are, it doesn’t have to be your destiny.
In Avoidant Attachment Style Recovery, relationship coach Richard Banks offers a proven, step-by-step guide to break free from the chains of avoidance and step into the fulfilling relationships you've always dreamed of. Inside, you’ll discover:
• How to stop pushing people away and rewire your response to intimacy.
• How childhood shapes avoidant behaviors—and how to break free from these patterns.
• How to communicate without fear and navigate emotional conversations with confidence.
• How to repair trust and intimacy—whether you’re in a relationship or working toward one.
• Ways to heal past relationship wounds and stop repeating destructive patterns.
This book is for you if:
• You find yourself pushing people away when things get too close.
• You want love, but commitment feels overwhelming or suffocating.
• You feel “stuck” in relationships, struggling to balance independence with intimacy.
• You’re in a relationship with an avoidant partner and want to understand their behavior and build a stronger bond..

Understanding and Healing a Friend's Perspective
I listened to this book because I have a friend who struggles with intimacy, and it mirrors so much of what Richard Banks describes. It really hit home how childhood experiences can shape someone's entire approach to relationships. The book doesn't sugarcoat the difficulty of changing these patterns, but it offers practical steps that feel doable. I found myself highlighting sections to share with my friend, hoping it might offer a different perspective and some tools to help them navigate their feelings. It's not a quick fix, but it feels like a solid starting point for anyone wanting to understand or address avoidant attachment.
