Surprisingly Poor.
For a text on audio engineering, one would expect a higher quality recording. But more significantly, there are moments when the narrator is misleading, even erroneous. In talking about compression, for example, he says something like—the lows stay the same while the highs are reduced. He fails to specify that he is talking about amplitude/dynamic range, making it all too easy to misinterpret the very concepts he seeks to explain and clarify. He touches upon a respectable variety of important topics but does nothing to improve the listener's understanding. Words are mispronounced as well, reinforcing the idea that the speaker has no knowledge of the topic at hand. It is hard to believe that the author of a book on audio engineering would create such an resource.
