There were the nine puppies at once, which arrived with less than a day's notice; a heart-worm positive dog; a deeply traumatized stray pup from Iraq; and countless others who just needed a gentle touch and a warm place to sleep. Operation Paws for Homes rescues dogs from high-kill shelters in the rural south and shuttles them north to foster homes like Cara's on the way to their forever homes.

What started as a search for a good dog, led to an epiphany that there wasn't just one that could fill the hole left in her heart from her children gaining independence - she could save dozens along the way. The stories of these remarkable dogs-including an 80-pound bloodhound who sang arias for the neighbors - and the joy they bring to Cara and her family (along with a few chewed sofa cushions) fill this touching and inspiring new book that reveals the wonderful rewards of fostering.

When asked how she can possibly say goodbye to that many loveable pups, Cara says, "If I don't give this one away, I can't possibly save another."

Loved this book, a must read for any dog lover.

I’ve never taken the time to write a review for a book before. But this book is so inspiring, funny at times ,heartwarming and encouraging.I would recommend it to any dog lover, highly!! Cara Sue is an excellent writer and I can’t wait to get her next book 100 dogs and counting.

I didn’t expected to love this book so much

As a dog lover, a book with a dog on the cover always get my attention, this book is more then that, heart warming journey of dog fostering. Great book for anyone that loves dog.

Heartwarming

As a purebred dog person that believes in ethical breeding I was worried that the adopt don’t shop would be the theme in this book. It wasn’t.
There were times this made me sad, happy and angry about people dumping dogs. Then the happy endings made it worth it. Even Texas made me feel good knowing he was loved.
You do fantastic work.
Xe is one of my favorite performers so that made the book even better.

Must Read For Animal Lovers

This is one of the best books I’ve listened to in a while. It explains the highs and lows of fostering an animal, but promotes the unconditional love & rewards to all involved in saving lives. Loved it!
