Resumen del Editor

If you want to discover the captivating life of Anne Hutchinson, then pay attention....

Her steps were determined and steady, even though the plank of the wooden ship bobbed up and down in the glittering but frigid water that splashed against the wet dock. In the first light of day, these were the times tinged with the hues of promise shadowed only by the vague unknown. Anne Hutchinson was just a follower, or so she thought, but she had many queued up behind her as she followed her spiritual mentor to Boston in the early days of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

This book tells the story of Anne Hutchinson’s life - a life with a mission. Strict chronological sequence isn’t adhered to because the content of Hutchinson’s message is more thematic. The people in her life didn’t appear as if in snapshots but kept reappearing over and over again. Thus, the book is split up into sections to make it easier for the reader living in a different time and place.

In Anne Hutchinson: A Captivating Guide to the Puritan Leader in Colonial Massachusetts Who Is Considered to Be One of the Earliest American Feminists, you will discover topics such as:

  • Ramifications of the reformation
  • Her father’s daughter
  • Religion and rivalries in a raw land
  • Controversies abound
  • The Hutchinson trial
  • After the trial
  • And what became of?
  • And much, much more!

So if you want to learn more about Anne Hutchinson, buy now!

Good Book

The book gives you a feel for living in her time- A window into the age of the first settlers- I liked the Book-The Author did good but first and foremost Anne was a Christian and a religionists who was fighting for conscience. She had a burning full knowledge and testimony of Christ that was alive and stirred the souls of all that listened she was on fire with the love of the spirit and of God.
To say she was feminist is not the right term—
She would be disgusted by modern feminist doctrine which many women are taught as youth and painfully regret in old age and feel misguided to trade wealth and career prestige for happinesses(Barbara Walters: “I regret not having more children. I would have loved to have had a bigger family,") Feminism today is far off course from a religious, holy and honorable cause if that was their original goal. Anne would be repulsed by their majority anti- Christian ways, immodesty, abortion, few children, millitant atheism in many cases, vitriolic language, mocking of a virtuous life of sexual abstinence before marriage and complete fidelity within marriage, modern feminists have given themselves the reputation of few nurturing famine motherly traits, rampant lewdness promiscuity lasciviousness and flagrant disregard for marital covenants or chastity before marriage. Even though Anne and had to put up with extremely bigoted uncharitable narrowminded insecure and vicious enemies she would be appalled by modern feminists — Many of other men and women that held her same beliefs were treated with equal harshness by the false and inhumane. She obviously lived in a time that was very bigoted and wrong towards women but she had strong convictions for her principles, morals, virtues and testimony that she is light years apart from any sort of modern feminist group of women!
I believe Jesus Christ received her into his room when she died into his rest in glory and peace from all her cares and sorrows.

Well researched

A very well researched and documented book by a descendant of Anne Hutchinson. Although I consider myself to be rather well-versed in theology, I couldn't for the life of me figure out if I was in favor of the doctrines she espoused, or not.

Interesting history

Interesting history of a woman living in the early period of the country. Explains a lot about the puritans at that time, why they came here and how they lived. It also shows how little women were valued and how they were expected to be silent and subservient. It was also interesting to learn about her descendants. A good book for history buffs.

I loved it

I loved the history of our country and how religion played such a HUGE part in politics! It's interesting how far religious "enlightenment" has come over the centuries regarding women's roles in the church. She was smart and self-educated and RESILIENT!

Exceptional biography of Anne Hutchinson

An exceptional biography of Anne Hutchinson, whose life story gives deeper insight into early colonial American life than the more traditional 'dead white man history'.

I Liked It

I like that Anne Hutchinson was willing in the end to even give up her life for her belief, which essentially she did. This is a very fascinating story of a woman who understood that she and her sex were just as important to God as the male gender and that God could speak directly to her as easily as to any man. She held her own in a man's world.

Recommended

I could totally relate to Anne whose only crime was being a female minister who answered only to the Holy Spirit. As a female minister myself, I thank Anne for blazing the way. Amazing to me is that the religious Pilgrims thought they were 'free' to worship, yet created their own 'rules' that banished Anne.
