The Angel of Death is the most powerful angel in Purgatory. Tasked with escorting souls from Earth, he performs his duty with cold efficiency. Unable to recall his own past, he is sentenced to an eternity of service to make up for sins he cannot recall.

Summoned by the Oracle, the powerful being in charge of Purgatory, Death is informed of a prophecy foretelling the destruction of Earth. Satan has opened two portals between Hell and Earth, intending to claim every soul as his own. The prophecy speaks of a guardian who will close the portals and send Satan back to the underworld.

Satan has his minions searching the Earth to eliminate the threat and alter the future. Assuming the earthly form of a man named Lex Hale, he finds the guardian Danielle Tate, just before Satan’s demons are able to take her.

On the run, Lex must convince Dani of her true nature, help her activate her powers, and figure out where the portals are located. All with Satan’s demons hot on their trail.

As Lex struggles to control his human emotions, he begins to develop feelings for Dani Tate, which is strictly forbidden.

On a cross-county odyssey, can Lex Hale protect the woman he loves and send Satan back to hell, saving every soul on Earth?

He has no choice because failure is not an option.

Short and simple... I usually don't finish most books, I'm pretty picky on what I like. This book, however, was interesting but the narration was just... off and the plot was extremely predictable YET I still finished the book, will not be returning it for a refund/credit. I think the story had a LOT of potential... next time develop the characters a bit more and scrap the breathing from the narrator and the long chapter pauses... not sure why that was so annoying but it was!
