Indeed an enlightening portrait.

Other than the over-all winning of US side at the Battles a great historical character portrayed by the author, I knew almost nothing of Andrew Jackson. This book heaves a great deal of light on a period of time in our country that lies between the American Revolution and the Civil War. The author has done all of us a public service in illustrating where we have come from and how our country has been preserved by the rare great men who have been President.

A basic but true guide.

As usual, Captivating History’s author’s team doesn't hold back. Captivating History’s team shares the triumphs as well as the more uncertain acts or attributes of his subject and I believe that is what draws me towards his work in the first place. A must read for the America history enthusiasts.

Understand the comparison to Trump.

As told from the beginning, this book was just on his White House years. A fuller biography you have to find somewhere else. A little too histrionic in his early years as President for my liking but, I envisage, the book covered all the essential goings on. Understand the comparison to Trump. Can't see Trump as that demanding though. A good read!

One of the best president of USA.

He is often called, the "Father of the Country", he accomplished his presidency as if he was handling a family. He's the first president to campaign on the road and with using his own funds, and lived through an endeavored assassination. This book sheds a lot of light on who the man was, how he managed the White House, and the legacy he left to us all.

HIs Politics, His Family Life, and His Legacy.

All in all, listening about Jackson's struggle and the threats of secession by South Carolina and other southern states, during his presidency is educational and interesting. Jackson began a new era of presidents as he was not one of the Founding Fathers but he stood his ground and unlike politicians of today, he was for the people.

A decent lion from USA.

Interesting, yes, it was informative. Plus, the depth of the psychological analysis was "Jackson had no children, so his relatives and the country substituted as his children." Maybe as one motivation, but that doesn't seem to tell the whole tale. I gave it 5 because you did a lot research about personal things you might necessarily have known.

Best and easy way to learn about AJ.

As for those who are upset by some perceived adoration of President Jackson, I thought Captivating History’s writing style actually watered it down a little bit. Left or right, Jackson was an interesting and intense character, and if you have very hard feelings about Jackson, you should be for warned that you will need a few grains of salt.

A pro-active american.

Firstly, I am a fan of Captivating History’s writing style in general. The team seems to have a friendly way of exemplifying his biographies in my opinion. I also have always thought that Andrew Jackson was a highly underrated President and never given his just recognition in the history lessons of America. Jacksonian politics have been a widely effective and widely used political stratagem and he was one of the most influential Presidents in our history as a nation.

This was fantastic audible.

I think what made this more entertaining for me and hard to put down, was the focus on those in Andrew Jackson's life and their inspiration on him and his thinking. From past Andrew's adoptive family, to his political foes who in some cases became good friends and allies, played an important role in telling Andrew Jackson life story as General Jackson himself.

Best for new comers.

I added 5 stars on authors work but there is still more work needed. He did against his own party almost as much as against the opposition, he was a determined nationalist, was quick to defend America’s "honor".
