This series by the author Daniel Arenson is only getting better and better with each new book.
Truly an amazing imagination and penmanship are overwhelming and are pure joy to listen in Spatial audio on Apple AirPods Pro’s.


Beautiful narration by Jeffrey Kafer for each of the characters in this creation.

will they be able to hold on to earth?

This was a great book! Lots of action in fighting for the control of the universe over the scorpions. The humans broke ranks sending Leona with a small group to locate earth and the remaining to join with the rest of the universe to fight the scorpions. Lerona and her group find just as much fighting as the main group. The basilics have over taken the area around earth.as well as earth itself. Will the humans ever get to recolonize earth and not fight? Well it's on to the next book! Audible has done an excellent job of this book. The narrator is very good at changing voices based on who is speaking and changing according to what is happening.

Could be better

As someone who has listened to many space series this is one of the hardest to listen to. The overall concept of the story is decent. The characters are good. The performance of the reader is excellent. The hopeless ignorance of space, and physics. Not so much. The inconsistency don't help either. Jeffrey Kafer is the only reason I made it this far. If you know nothing about space and think star wars is the apex of space realism you might like this series. But if you have listened to, and appreciated, 'The Lost Fleet' or 'Star Carrier' series for example. Then this set of books will make you want to bang your head against a wall. Daniel Arenson, don't give up. The story had potential. Your writing isn't bad. Your understanding of space is lacking. ex. looking threw a port hole and clearly seeing details light years away with the naked eye. Not a chance. The realities of how ships would have to be built let alone be fought is seriously lacking. ex. You can't cut the propulsion system (in this case the stern) off a ship, and then have it 'run away'. Do some research and try again.

Childish adults and constant repeating

Some of the characters often acted childish rather than like adults fighting for survival. The constant repeating of their woes of life made for tedious listening. Good story line otherwise.
