Am I Pretty? Asked Maryam

“Am I pretty, Mommy?"

When Maryam asks her mom if she’s pretty, Sairah sees it as a chance to talk to her daughter about beauty standards, gender roles, and the importance of being true to ourselves. Together, they explore what it means to be kind and how we can all come together by being mindful of others and embracing our inner beauty.

In today’s world, we are surrounded every day by images, language, and attitudes that tell us we must look a certain way in order to have value. Am I Pretty? Asked Maryam aims to break down these messages and give children the confidence to be happy in themselves by encouraging philosophical discussion of these issues.
