People Change

All the Things We Were by Kayla Tirrell is a sweet coming of age story featuring characters that can change for the better. Michelle starts out in this book as a "mean girl" and morphs into someone I liked. I think the author wrote this sweet romance with great insight and sensitivity. She gave the characters depth and feelings, and kept the book clean. I love it when one's imagination can fill in the details of a budding romance. Ranier came across as a clean cut young man that kept it together even when success came. Katie Brown performed this book wonderfully, giving the characters distinguished voices. I love it when I can hear exactly who is speaking. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. This book is both a standalone listen and part of a series. I had no trouble following the story, and this is my first listen by this author. I will listen to more books by this author and narrator.

redeeming

I listened to the first book in the series, so I was familiar with Michelle already. I wasn't sure how her story was going to go, since she was basically the mean girl in book 1 (I didn't read or listen to book 2). Ranier was the perfect person for her to help her get herself together. This is a clean story, no sex at all, and I don't recall any swearing either. it's a younger audience than what I normally go for, but wasn't bad. the narrator was decent too, not making it sound awkward doing both male and female parts.

A beautiful sweet story.

A beautiful sweet story. This entertaining standalone is better if you are upto date with the other series stories for character association but not neccesarily needed. It's a powerful story of redemption with lots of sarcasm and sass, includes a swoony nerdy guitarist, and undeniable attraction creating thick tension. The characters are interesting and relatable. I voluntarily listened and reviewed this ARC that was beautifully narrated really bring the characters and story to life

Can opposites attract?

This can be categorized as opposites attract/enemy to lovers. Michelle and Ranier don't have a lot in common and don't get along in the beginning. Ranier is a nice guy and Michelle is known as a mean girl. I enjoy seeing how things develop between the two and how everything falls into place.

My favorite in the series

I absolutely loved getting to know Michelle and Raineir . I especially loved how he didn't try to change himself to get the popular girl . The growth that Michelle made as a person is heart warming also . I usually never feel for the mean girl . This was also the funniest in my opinion .

Volume 3

After listening to all 3 audio books, I can definitely say that the story line and narration are excellent . I am definitely recommending this series.

The Best of the Trilogy

"Were" is the third book in the River Valley Lost & Found series and, in my opinion, is the best of the three. We are introduced to Michelle, a former girlfriend of Julian from book 1. Her dad wants her to learn a little responsibility over the summer as he has her working at the bookstore he owns. Michelle is the spoiled rich kid, treating others rudely and not grasping the struggles that others have to go through. As she begins work, she is paired with Rainier, a nerdy hard-working guy who is not the typical guy that Michelle would fall for. Rainier is also filling in as a guitar player for a band that plays at the local bar. Things start to take off as the band gets noticed.

The story between Michelle and Rainier is a real love/hate relationship. Over the summer, Michelle's protective guard begins to go down in many ways she begins to grow up, her attitudes of others changing day by day. The only thing that I wish had been added into this story was an apology or reconciliation between Michelle and two girls she had hurt in the past, Gwen and Katie. That would have solidified Michelle's change. It is still a fantastic story and one I highly recommend.

I was all over the board on this one. There were moments I absolutely loved the characters and their interactions, and there were times I just wanted to knock some sense into them. I guess the author , Kayla Tirrell, really did her job... her story really elicited a wide range of emotions.

Katie Brown did a great job with the narration. I wouldn’t hesitate to listen to more from her.

Love this series!

Each of the books in this series has been entirely different that the other. These are standalones but they are stories about characters we have met in previous books. This was another heartwarming and adorable YA contemporary romance. Well written clean romance with great characters!

The narrator brings us another fabulous performance for this series and was a pleasure to listen to.

a sweet romance

Michelle had a reputation of being the mean girl. it was her persona to keep her emotions in check. Her father made her work in the summer at the bookstore he owned. There she met Rainier, the quiet homeschooled guy, that she really didnt know too much about. They clashed, they talked, they became friends.
Until one day their attraction to each other became stronger. this is a story of Michele finding herself, changing her attitude. For Rainier it was his own self discovery, and building confidence. I really did enjoy listening to the narration by Katie Brown. I received a free code by the author for an honest review. I recommend this sweet romance for all teens and above.
