A special poignant look into 41's private life

With his recent passing, I felt comforted hearing his voice and learning more about this amazing patriot and patriarch of the Bush Family. I laughed and cried, sometimes at the same time. Put aside your political affiliation and learn many valuable life lessons from this former POTUS that did not receive the respect he deserved until far too late. I wish I had received this earlier, so I could have written him a note saying I admired him as a President, Navy hero, and parent. He certainly gave all his best during his service to the country for all of the various ways he served our country. Godspeed Mr. President.

Nice Guy

Nice way to tell a nice story about a nice guy. President Bush may be one of the most underrated presidents and best one term presidents of all time, but his qualifications for his political beginnings and 43s seem questionable.

Fascinating history of the presidency and Cold War

The details and topics are incredible and I feel as if I understand so much since WWII to the Clinton years. I understand fully in hindsight the history years that I grew up in. Genuine, poetic , and insight into a family of politicians who have integrity, a great moral compass, and sadly a time when we could be proud of so many traditions connected with the presidency, what an amazing family for all of us to be proud of!

One of the finest books I have ever listened to. it felt as if you were sharing a conversation with this historic leader. invited to share time with the man and his family. thank you Mr President. Thank you for your service and for being THE point of light we may emulate.

amusing and very insightful

HW has a great sense of humor! what a funny guy and an HONORABLE MAN..rare in this day and age. loved hearing his personal feelings about when he was 19 and a fighter pilot on bombing missions! imagine that! a very ambitious and interesting man with boundless energy and courage!

He lived a good life

In my opinion, this man was one of the most qualified presidents that we have had. He was well grounded and had good intentions. I don’t think many men or women with his beliefs and passion for family would want to be president today.

This book would be interesting even for those of you that did not like President Bush’s political views. It is about a lot more than politics.

This read captures the feelings and thoughts of a president and devoted family man through his letters and journal entries. Not a history book, it walks you through important events in a very rich life. The narration by George and several family members adds to the warmth of this book. Loved it!

Great book/great author

Inspiring book with a great reading by the former President and his family. Motivated me to begin journaling and writing those I love.

A perfectly intelligent piece of work

A really outstanding piece of literature that is increasingly well written. I found that I developed in the most important ways while listening to this book and I think it is a paramount for young men comming of age like myself to find maturation through outlets such as this one. I highly recommend this book.
