good book

story great descriptive interesting. However I would recommend the author pay for a professional narration. the first two times I started it I turned it off because the narration was poor. However once I started listening to the details of the the story interested me thoough the author writes well, not everyone is a narrator and she's adequate but far from a professional I've listened to zillions of audiobooks over many years. I'm a professional and have attended many speaking engagements. Public speaking is much difference and Donna may be an excellent public speaker. However. narrating an audiobook is a much different venue.
a professional narrator would enhance this book make it more interesting and easy on the ears.

Yeesh! An Incredibly Vain, Entitled Woman!

I tried, really I did, but despite her being the heroine of this journey, I just couldn't wind up liking Paisola. This isn't just the story of the disaster, but also of her life and travels. Be prepared to hear of her publicly shaming and shouting at those who don't have the same ambition that she has, of her determination to live the American life of comfort as she travels the world, of her stepping out from the airport and basically buying the impoverished with a, "You! You're working for me when I'm here" attitude. She comes across poverty, but even then, her handlers in third world countries don't show her real poverty as they know she's too far above them to handle it.
And when it comes to the shipwreck, she's just wretched. When picked up and saved, passengers from the other ship offer her slippers as she's in but bare feet and her only thought is: I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those. When the victims are given shelter for the night, her only thought is: Here? I can't sleep here!
The narration is so well done that I had to give it only three stars as it's shrill and abusive, whiny and entitled as the story calls for it.
As far as the purchase goes, the only worse than a waste of money is a waste of time. And I want my 9 hours back...!
