You don't make a dozen hit albums without stirring up the occasional controversy. Especially when you're Aerosmith, one of America's greatest rock bands. Listeners get the inside scoop from Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton here in Aerosmith: A Rockview All Talk Audiobiography. Recorded just before they released the classic Permanent Vacation, this intimate look at the band features stories from life on the road, problems with drugs, and their breakup and subsequent reunion. Fans will appreciate the frankness of Tom Hamilton and the access he grants into learning just what it takes to make it as a rock 'n' roll band.

Resumen del Editor

US rockers Aerosmith, who have often been compared to the Rolling Stones, are a band whose career dates back to the early '70s and whose influence on the Glam Rock scene has been considerable. Aerosmith formed in the US in 1970 with a line up of vocalist Steve Tyler, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton, and drummer Joey Kramer.

In this unique and exclusive audiobiog, we hear the reason behind the bands early break up and reforming, the answer to drug allegations, and about life on the road and in the studio. This is not an authorised record company, artist, or management music release, and suond qualilty may vary.

Substance abuse, rock-and-roll, wasted money, determination, being clean, and the live gig - here are all the secrets and the truth.

Interesting for Aerosmith Enthusiasts

Where does Aerosmith rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book was a look into Aerosmith shortly after becoming sober but before their meteoric rise back to the top. It also was the break from the old hard-rocking Aerosmith and the new pop sound that became their new hallmark. They still had everything to prove and much of what Tom Hamilton states proves to be prophetic. It is worth the buy for amateur Aerosmith historians interested in such things.

What other book might you compare Aerosmith to and why?

This was unique because it is an interview primarily with bassist Tom Hamilton, who most people do not know. It likely takes place in the Summer of 1987, shortly before the release of Permanent Vacation but after Aerosmith had their hit collaboration with Run DMC with "Walk This Way." Aerosmith had a taste of newfound success but still needed to prove they could make original music that sold well.It also was unique because it shows an determined and somewhat irritated Tom Hamilton who wanted to become an outspoken member and more active songwriter of the group (neither of which materialized). It is far from the whimsical and laid-back Hamilton who fans got to know during Aerosmith's rise back to prominence in the late 80s and 90s.

Which scene was your favorite?

During a discussion of contemporary hard rock music in 1987, Hamilton names several bands who were disciples of Aerosmith and starting to gain popularity. Ironically absent from the conversation was Guns and Roses, who would become the most successful of those bands and who Aerosmith would tour with a year later.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Aerosmith-From the bottom looking up.

Any additional comments?

The last few minutes of the recording is a completely different interview with Steven Tyler likely from around 1989 talking about the song "Monkey on My Back" from Pump.

Great Interview with Tom Hamilton

WTF? Why is this listed as an “interview with Aerosmith” when it’s an interview with Tom Hamilton? Amazing that there is finally some substance given by the group member other than Joe and Stephen. It’s about time although this interview took place shortly after the recording of Permanent Vacation. It’s great to hear Tom speak as most people probably didn’t realize how well spoken and at ease he is. Good job…..finally!

good vintage interview

Tom Hamilton is so cool. Also a very big part of the Aerosmith sound. He explains a lot in this interview.
