Fighting for peace could cost them everything.
Daniel and Marina find themselves embroiled in a quest to unite Aeris’s two magic races and defend the innocent against the Dark Man’s grand plans to enslave the world.
The Huntsman and the Healer: A dangerous secret draws Marina and Daniel together.
The Dark Man’s Wrath: The Dark Man threatens Marina in a bid to control Daniel.
The Lady’s Grace: The Dark Man’s attention turns to destroying Daniel and Marina’s daughter.
They are willing to face the Dark Man’s wrath, but will their convictions hold when the cost could be their daughter’s life?
This is a prequel trilogy that follows the events of River’s Edge Ransom and leads right to the beginning of Redeemer Chronicles. Aeris stories in order: River’s Edge Ransom, The Huntsman and the Healer, The Dark Man’s Wrath, The Lady’s Grace, Awakening, The Holy War, Reclaim the Darklands.

This collection, The Huntsman and the Healer, The Dark Man’s Wrath, and The Lady’s Grace, follows Daniel and Marina as they’re pulled into a conflict far bigger than themselves. Their goal sounds noble enough: unite Aeris’s two magic races and protect the innocent. The problem? The Dark Man has other plans, and he’s willing to hurt the people they love most to get what he wants.
The first book does a great job of drawing Daniel and Marina together through secrets, danger, and a slow-burn connection. By the second, the stakes jump sharply as the Dark Man directly targets Marina to control Daniel. And by the third, things turn downright brutal when his focus shifts to their daughter. The question isn’t just whether they can survive, but what they’re willing to lose along the way.
This trilogy is very much a bridge between River’s Edge Ransom and the start of the Redeemer Chronicles, and it does that job well. You can feel the groundwork being laid for future heartbreak, conflict, and moral complexity. Fair warning: this is not a happily-ever-after kind of series. It’s sad, often painful, and the ending absolutely leaves you wanting more.
I listened to the audiobook, and Teralyn Davis deserves a shoutout, her narration really elevated the emotional weight of the story and kept me engaged through the darker moments.
Overall, while the series leans heavily into sorrow and sacrifice, it’s still an enjoyable and compelling read (or listen). If you’re okay with bittersweet endings and characters who keep fighting even when the cost is unbearable, this prequel trilogy is worth the journey.

All the characters are rather complex and have Very difficult choices, they must make which can be relatable sometimes in real life. I would not recommend this to anyone under the age of 13. I would say that is a very good novel for coming of age and young adult readers.
Enticing world!!
