He was the world’s richest man. Now, he’s a servant with zero talent. But in a world of immortals, hard work beats destiny—especially when you can see the Progress Bar.

Kael had it all: islands, armies, and a fortune that could buy nations. Then he died and woke up in the brutal Star River Sect. No longer a billionaire, he is now a lowly servant, stripped of dignity.

To make matters worse, he is a "Hollow"—a mortal born with no Spirit Root. In this dog-eat-dog cultivation world, that’s a death sentence. He is destined to be cannon fodder, or worse, a lab rat for the sect’s twisted alchemy experiments.

But fate gave him a parting gift.

[System Initialized: Absolute Mastery]

Swing a hammer? +1 XP.

Kill an enemy? Level Up.

While the "geniuses" meditate for years to gain a sliver of power, Kael just has to grind. With a hammer in his hand and a kill-count rising in the shadows, Kael is ready to shatter the hierarchy of the cultivation world.

They call him trash. He calls them XP.

Don't miss this progression fantasy combining the ruthlessness of Xianxia with the addictive mechanics of LitRPG. Perfect for fans of Cradle, Defiance of the Fall, and He Who Fights with Monsters.

This book has SOOOO many inconsistencies. It’s obviously written by AI and there was little to no editing done. Even simple stuff like the hammer used for smithing is a sledgehammer. One second it’s suspicious for someone without a spirit root to advance but then the overseer advanced by using spirit stones that are available to everyone. The MC is also oblivious to obvious solutions and just sits there staying in a bad situation. There is a lot of things that don’t hold up to the simplest scrutiny.

There is such a weird side story about women’s underwear.

Rook is a straight up idiot.

Horribly edited

I think this one gets top marks and is in my top 5 now for litrpg. There’s a lot of awkward situations that were tough to get through but for the most part it was excellent

Really good!!

I didn't like the way women were treated by the characters other than the protagonist.

very xianxia

I really enjoyed this book. I’m always on the lookout for good cultivation novels, and this was a lucky find!

I do wish Audible would let me follow the author so I could get notifications when new books come out. There also isn’t a proper series page, which makes it harder to track everything. As far as I can tell there are currently two books available, and I’m excited to jump into the next one.

The story itself was a lot of fun. It’s technically a reincarnation story, but that element isn’t the main focus. Instead, the emphasis is on cultivation through a system that uses progress bars. I actually enjoyed that a lot. Watching his growth become visible and measurable scratches that progression itch in a very satisfying way.

The early advancement moves fairly quickly, but once he reaches Foundation everything slows down dramatically and turns into a true grind. That said, there seem to be countless ways for him to improve skills, and those improvements feed back into his cultivation. It makes the progression feel layered and interconnected, which I really enjoyed.

There are some minor inconsistencies in how the system works, but nothing that broke the experience for me.

The book includes light romantic elements, but nothing graphic.

The narrator is a Virtual Voice (AI). It has its limits — occasional awkward phrasing or pronunciation — but overall I found it perfectly listenable. I’m honestly grateful this option exists because it allows newer authors to get their stories into audio.

All in all, this was a very fun listen. I’m only pausing to write this review before immediately starting Book 2. If you love cultivation stories with systems, grinding, alchemy, blacksmithing, body cultivation, and steady growth, this is absolutely worth checking out.
