Fantastic

I absolutely loved this story. Another new author for me and all I can say is I am hooked. A wide variety of characters, Warlocks, Demons, vampires, werewolves along with many more. Nemain had a rough life and now she has warlocks & vampires hunting her. Sebastián her ex would never leave her alone because he had evil intentions Nemain also posseses extremely powerful magic which she tries to keep hidden but she is tired of running and hiding. She may have to embrace her magic if she wants to defeat her enemies Nemain is an awesome character, full of snark and power. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to start the 2nd book now.

okay this is a good start to a good series. I can't wait to get started on the next book. I hope it comes out soon. like always Krys did an amazing job on narratoring .

Great book

This was a great book. I'm going to purchase the second book so I can know what happens.

A fun blend of fantasy and the modern day world

I found out about A Shift in Shadows from some fantastic artwork of the characters on Instagram, and I'm glad that I did. As a writer of dark fantasy fiction myself, I enjoyed seeing the fantasy elements blended into the real world, not to mention I'm a sucker for vampires, and this one did not disappoint.

The story starts off a little slow, but it's not in a bad way as it is setting up the characters and the plot. We follow, Nemain, (who as we learn in the opening of the book,) was held captive by Sebastian, her ex warlock boyfriend with severe stalker problems. I won't go too far into the story for fear of spoiling it for future readers, but it's got a pretty massive blend of fantasy races: if you're into fae, merfolk, werewolves, demons, or the aforementioned vampires, there's something for you here. All of the characters have their own problems and baggage which makes them feel more real, and the narrator did a pretty decent job portraying them.

A Shift in Shadows sort of feels like the first season to a series, in that it builds up the plot well and leaves you wanting to know what's next. It's got plenty of action, world building, and a few scenes of romance that I personally appreciate. There's nothing like watching two characters grow and bond romantically to add a sense of realism to the story. I recommend this book, and look forward to the next!

Slow start but stick with it!

This is the first time I had ever listened to anything by this author. To be honest I was not that interested in the beginning. I want to stop listening so many times at the beginning but around chapter 8 is where is really started grabbing my attention. Not sure if anyone else may feel that way but stick it out it gets pretty good. I liked the characters and the development of them throughout the book. I enjoyed the narration and thing she did a really good job bringing the characters to life. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Intriguing

This is the first in the series where Nemain is being held captive from her ex-boyfriend Sebastian and vampires who are hellbent on torturing her in order to make her crack. After being rescued, Nemain realizes that she will be in a constant battle of will against Sebastian who is his continuing his search for her. Not only does she have to worry about that, but also her strange magic which her parents told her never to reveal. Follow Nemain on her journey to outwit her foes. This book continues with a cliffhanger at the end. I can wait to listen to the next in the series.

Good story

I enjoyed listening to this audio book. The narrator did a great job bringing out the story. I was a little confused at first but once I got further along I really enjoyed it.

I just couldn't warm up to this

I found the main character annoying and unlikable. That did it for me, I couldn't finish the book.
