So much fun!

I am addicted now to listening to these fun mysteries. Love the vocabulary! Excellent reader, too.

Great narration. Terrific sequel.

I am really loving this series. The original was perhaps a bit better, but that is usually the way. I truly enjoy how much we don't know about our protagonists.

A new favorite series

First I have to address the negative comments about sex in the book. Realize the timing of the book - Regency period - and the fact that the whole setting for this mystery is within the Bohemian community. What else would you expect? And to be honest unless you are a bit prudish with overly strong sensibilities, nothing was ever really that explicit and no sexual encounter was ever related in any detail. And the first book should have turned you off because Veronica is not a character who would appeal to you. She's forthright and doing her absolute best to survive and be true to herself in a VERY male dominated world. She's modern in an antiquated time. Read Outlander and then tell me if this book was over the top in its description or inclusion of sex!

Angele is my new favorite narrator! I absolutely love her skill at voices. It's so easy to forget you are only listening to one person. And she captures the essences of each character perfectly! I'm always impressed at her Stoker and how much she can convey through her voice. I know if I ever read the books, it will be her voices I hear on the page.

I can't wait to read the next book! These are becoming my newest addiction. I may not be able to wait until my next credit! ;-)

Plenty of class and sass.

This series has everything that I look for in a detective story with a strong female lead. I adore the time period, she has no filter when it comes to thoughts and feelings. Puts every person in their place. The dynamic between Veronica and Stoker is perfect. So many times I find myself giggling out loud over something. I am always looking forward to more. I really enjoy Angele Masters as the narrator as well. She does a wonderful job distinguishing between voices, male and female and not making it sound bizarre. I love this series enough this is my 3rd time listening and I’m so so happy to finally be moving onto the next one.

Excellent Series

Read book two of this series first because Audible had a sale. Fell in love with the characters and then read this book and then had to re-listen to book 2 to get some of the backward references i missed the first time. The mystery in both books is solid and the humor and well developed characters pulls the reader in. This time in history is also excellent for mysteries because there is no internet to answer every question and science has not developed to the point where forensics is everything. I must also congratulate the excellent narrator in an incredible job of bringing the characters to life

Veronica and Stoker are a great team.

Good plot and fabulous characters. the tension between Speedwell and Stoker is perfect. I listened to the audiobook and it was a great listen.
