Resumen del Editor

A guide to meditation and mindfulness written by Buddhist monk Gelong Thubten.

Modern life is fast-paced and demanding - we're constantly racing from one place to the next, mentally and physically, but how often do we pause and consider whether we're truly happy?

A Monk's Guide to Happiness is an insightful and practical guide to meditation, mindfulness and the nature of true, lasting happiness. This audiobook will help you to understand the power of meditation, living in the present and how this can transform your life.

Thubten's expertise lies in teaching meditation, and he's introduced mindfulness and calm into the lives of many. He's taught everywhere from law firms and banks to schools and prisons; he will teach you how to choose happiness and mental calm.

Gelong Thubten draws upon all that he has learned during his many years of meditation practice, including several years in intensive retreats, and also his many years of experience teaching people from all walks of life and backgrounds, making this audiobook accessible and rooted in reality.

In A Monk's Guide to Happiness, Thubten teaches us how to meditate, how to be more 'awake' in life, how to train our minds and reprogramme our stress response and how to introduce 'micro moments' of mindfulness into our daily lives. Through mindfulness we can discover the deeper potential of the mind - our inherent compassion, wisdom and true freedom.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Thubten is a very generous and kind monk who writes with the lived honesty and humour of someone who has experienced the wisdom he shares. His writing is full of inspiration but also the pragmatism needed to form a sustainable practice. His book clearly illustrates why we all need meditation and mindfulness in our lives." (Benedict Cumberbatch)

"Gelong Thubten's book is as warm, wise and generous as the man himself. We've never needed a voice like his more." (Melanie Reid, The Times)

"Compelling to read, yet full of profound wisdom, this wonderful book rationally describes how our mind functions and how we can cultivate the habit of happiness." (Professor Lokesh Joshi, Vice President for Research, National University of Ireland)

Best meditation book for atheism

Being an atheistic Buddhist, this is one of the best book I ever read with good explanation for beginner also providing interesting insights for advanced practitioners with easy language and slight of humour.
It makes meditation sounds practical & interesting. Some scientific explanation gives a good reason for people just to try it and experience it yourself, which is also the truly concept of Buddhism as to experience it by ourself instead of religious / dualistic following.

The book has put me back to my daily Vipassana practice and truly “advanced” my experience during my recent vipassana retreat and daily micro moment.
