Riveting til the end!

I liked the plot and the historical research that the author always puts in to this series. It left me guessing what’s next again!

narrator has lost me

I am done. the narrator has ruined this series for me and IMHO, I no longer care about the players either. if Verity dies or Sydney dies, I won't be upset.

Only Half a Story

This book repeated quite a lot from the previous book and then didn’t finish the story. It’s more like a magazine serial than a novel; it’s designed to make you buy another book, and is not an appropriate way to handle a novel.

This Ending Was Beneath Ann Lee Huber

Right now I am so angry with Ms Huber it’s hard to complete a review. After many, hours of listening to a narrator so difficult to understand whenever she lowered her voice that I had to raise the volume ridiculously high, to have it be a cliff hanger is a betrayal of trust. I hate this literary device. It ruined the book for me.

Solid book in a great series

Is it the best in this series? No. Is it still good? Yes. I liked the coverage of historical events and political upheaval in Dublin at that time more than the actual mystery they were trying to solve.

Too much exposition

It’s time for Huber to move this story along. I’m glad one part of this is complete, but the big baddie needs to be caught and then Verity and her husband need to be able to work on other things. This has been stretched out far too long, imho.

Disappointed

It’s sad when an author feels the only way to keep you purchasing her books is to drag a sub-plot through 8 books, then end with such an obvious cliffhanger, after (finally!!) finding the phosgene gas!! Beyond dissatisfied with the plot and the ending.
