Engaging characters and story

The story is interesting and unique.. Performance captivating
Well developed and engaging fleshed out characters.
A different take on magic.
Really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next book.

The best in the series so far

Fast paced. Good progression. Leaves on thinking. A lot of introspection and planning strategy. The Jacka style.

Love Hate

Love the series, hate having to wait a year for the next one. Best series I've listened to in a long time. Great Narration/Narrator. A lot of real world practical advice from Dad and Charles ( and the winged angle is not far off ....) Keep it up MrJacka I'm here for the duration. This is a hard one to pull off as it's middle of a larger story arc but well done. Now I think we need a go fund me page to get this guy to write faster. Thanks for the pleasant escape.

Solid Book

This series is progressing slower than Alex Verus but that’s because Jacka is doing an excellent job developing the plot and main character. I’m only saddened that I have to wait another teaser for the next book!

Jacka is crafting a masterpiece

Will Watt is tremendous & perfect for the story. as much as I love Verus this is just better

somewhat disappointed

I'm starting to get frustrated with Benedict jacka. we waited a year for this release, but so little happened in terms of story progression. most of the written words were spent on useless transitions. minimal character and story development. if it weren't for the potential this story has, i'd give up on this series.

Just gets better

Each book builds on the last, making the story better and better! If like the first two, you will love this.

Like listening to paint dry

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. After book 2’s glacial pace, filled with endlessly cryptic talk about magical politics and zero answers, I nonetheless trusted in the author who gave us the Alex Verus series. But with this book, it’s clear I was a fool.

This book relegates the best parts, like Hobbs the cat, to mere footnotes. It answers one measly question (where’s his dad), while having countless major characters drone on with frustratingly vague, non-answers. All. The. Talking. Gah! I’m such a chump for slogging through this, hoping against hope for answers, action, or characters I care anything about.
