A serial killer draws an FBI agent into an explosive government conspiracy in a white-knuckle thriller by Steven Konkoly, the USA Today bestselling author of A Clean Kill.

After FBI special agent Garrett Mann executes a deadly raid on an underground facility in New Mexico, the sole survivor’s testimony reveals a greater threat to come.

The covert lair was a training ground for hundreds of cartel sicarios, who have since disappeared into the US, their ultimate mission still unknown. When another FBI raid goes catastrophically wrong, Mann finds himself on the trail of the Bureau’s original target—a moonlighting serial killer who leads the agent into a nightmare that’s darker and more extensive than Mann ever feared.

As Mann and his team hunt their fugitive, they find he could have deep ties to powerful government officials. But even as the list of people Mann trusts grows smaller, he must find the killer and blow the heart of this conspiracy wide open before more lives are lost.

Reading is overdone with non convincing emphasis on battle scenes. Never before heard principals thanking reconnaissance for their response. Also, during the excitement of battle, not necessary to give the complete handgun model number. Sounds like a commercial.

Storyline is good but, could only get through 50% of book.

Wish the voice for Anush was actually an Indian accent. It’s distracting when I’m sitting there trying to figure it out. Wondering if I missed something that said he actually grew up in china or someplace. I hear accents from everywhere daily. That one was a major W T F.

Typical convoluted politics & breaking rules.

PamG's review (on Goodreads) is spot on.
Warning: If you didn't read A Clean Kill, you must read it first or parts of this book won't make sense. The author briefly covers portions of book one but it but it would have been too much to fully cover without killing the flow of this book.

Their was a lot of action, energy and OTT craziness to keep you hooked. I did skip past some of the "tension building" internal dialog but please note that I thoroughly enjoyed the story. My guess is that some of the loose threads have been left hanging for a third installment.

What a ride!

I get it. Writing is hard. His others books are pretty good. This one, not so much. This story stared out well enough but quickly went into neutral with pages and pages of nothing. Even the “action” scenes were boring. Could have used an editor and some expansion of the plot. Oh well.

Writing (well) is hard
