(After his death, the pair bonded in their grief and eventually married.) Amid these original interviews and exhaustive archival research, Wappler weaves poignant vignettes of memoir in which she serves as an avatar to show how Perry shaped a generation’s views on masculinity, privilege, and the ideal of “cool.”

Oddly

I wasn’t expecting that much. It was very confusing. I’ve had such a crush on Luke. That part was good. But I didn’t get the other part of it.

Disappointed

I DNF'd this book. I loved the portions I read about Luke BUT I do not understand the authors decision to insert her own memoir in with a book that is supposed to be about Luke Perry. I made it to Chapter 10 hoping his portion would overtake her memoir and when that didn't happen I DNF.
This review is not to necessarily to say the book was bad but that I think it was misrepresented. Luke is on the cover. The title reflects Luke. I didn't want to know her own story.
If you decide to read this book or listen to the narration be aware of what you are purchasing.

More Luke- less you

Wanted more luke, not the confusing autobiography from the author. Felt very disjunctive… hard to follow parallel biographies that never interlink or collide.

ugh.

Not enough about Luke. Terrible. We all knew he was a great guy already. No one cares about the author's life.

I hope you want to learn about the author--you will.

The sections focusing on Perry were interesting. The author's autobiography, woven in between sections about Perry, was self-indulgent and irrelevant.

Not the best...

I was excited to hear there was a book about the life of Luke Perry. I had always admired his acting and loved seeing him as a father on shows my daughters were watching. One of my favorite roles of his was Lane Frost in 8 Seconds. I was confused and disappointed to see the author interwove her life story into Luke's story. I found that confusing and could not see how this was necessary. I started skipping the parts about her life. I am sure she has a story as we all do, but I just felt it took away from Luke's life story. . Spoiler the end of the book she is still talking about herself and says Luke's family did not agree to participate. I will look more closely in the future if I purchase any other "biographies".

Not too much about Luke Perry

Did not realize when I purchased that this book is not an actual biography of Luke Perry. It had some facts about him as his life story was very loosely intertwined with the author’s. This would be a free Libby library book to listen on the background. Do not waste an audible credit on it.

Nostalgic

Growing up in the 90’s, this book brought back a lot of great memories. It also showed what a great guy Luke Perry was from first hand accounts by people who knew him personally and professionally. He will be forever missed. Great book!
