Resumen del Editor

Math professor Sophie Knowles is looking forward to some time off for the summer, but things do not go as planned. The graduates are complaining about the mayor who gave the commencement address, one student is upset about her grade and vents on social media, and just when she is about to escape all of the drama to take a stroll with her helicopter pilot boyfriend, they’re interrupted by the mayor himself as he falls into the campus fountain with a knife in his back. Sophie dives into all the scandal and corruption that seems to connect to the mayor and finds his killer.

Interesting mystery

I do enjoy a book with a strong, smart woman. I like that Sophie is a Professor who is into puzzles, is independent, and not at all weak or weepy. Good story and good mystery.

I thought the narrator did a good job. Her voice was mature and confident enough to portray the main characters well

A Function of Murder

I enjoy the Sophie Knowles series, In this third installment, it felt like Sophie was acting a bit out of character as compared to the previous two books. That could be because people keep dying around her! This is a good clean series with characters you can actually like!

4 and a half stars

A Function of Murder is an entertaining and enjoyable light cozy mystery. My only complaint is that the pace seemed to slow down towards the end during the climax. I couldn't stand the suspense and skipped ahead a bit. overall I enjoyed this cozy mystery and look forward to the next book.

Great read!

Very suspenseful and with the twists and turns, you never know who the killer is until the end. Love the math puns throughout the book! The narrator keeps you engaged and the accents are spot on!

Murder after Commencement

A Function of Murder is Book 3 of a Professor Sophie Knowles Mystery by Camille Minichino. Our story opens with the Mayor giving the Commencement speech. Shortly afterwards the Mayor is found with a knife in his back. I always find Sophie Knowles mysteries interesting and clever. I like Sophie and her boyfriend Bruce. I thought the ah ha moment when Sophie knew who the murderer was great. I really am enjoying this series... it is wonderful. Chris Kenworthy gave an outstanding job as the narrator .

Reliable Sophie Knowles

I enjoyed listening to this story while on my daily walks - love most of the "quirks" of the puzzling, mathematician lead character, but starting to become frustrated with the constant rationalizations for holding back evidence from the police until she can work through it herself. If she's going to repeatedly endanger her life, then I'd prefer she embrace that selfishishness and stupidity, rather than try & shrug it off as being helpful and cute. Not a huge fan of the narrator (the college students all sound alike - and the Massachussett accents sprinkled throughout are a bit much), although adjusting the speed seemed to help with some of the annoying sound effects. And to be fair I've only found a few readers that I absolutely love - and - Of course it can't be all that bad since I'm on to book 4 now!!
