Resumen del Editor

In the newest mystery from the national best-selling author of Murder in Merino, the sleuthing skills of Izzy Chambers Perry and the Seaside Knitters are tested as death mars the beginning of the school year.… Seaside Knitter Birdie Favazza is thrilled that her granddaughter, Gabby, will be visiting for the fall and attending the Sea Harbor Community Day School. Gabby loves the school, with its newly adopted progressive curriculum, and she loves that the Seaside Knitters are teaching knitting as part of the enrichment program. It’s a huge success, and on crisp autumn days girls camp out on the terraces, knitting up hats for charity.

But not everyone is happy with the direction the school is taking. Outspoken board member Blythe Westerland has sparked tempers with her determination to unravel the current administration. Then, on the evening of an elegant school event, Blythe’s body is found near the school boathouse.

With a killer on the loose, Birdie is determined to keep Gabby safe. Working together, the Seaside Knitters carefully unravel the layers of Blythe’s complicated life, bringing faculty members and town residents under scrutiny. Before the cast-off rows are made on the students’ projects, the knitters will need to stitch together the evidence to see if a murderer has been walking beside them all along.

I enjoy this series but don’t like the Boston accents in this one

This book had a different reader than the previous books and I don’t like the random Boston accents thrown in - they weren’t in the previous ones so it should be consistent. Otherwise I still love this series! :)

Not as hard to solve.

Unlike the previous books, I knew who the murderer was from almost the beginning. Disappointed.

So much victim blaming!!!

I hate books like this, where they paint the victim to be such a villain that their murder seems “justified.” The entire story focused on all the awful things Blythe did to others, in order to get us (the readers) to feel no remorse for her death. The most chilling scene was when the group reviewed her will & smiled with glee that Blythe’s money will go to her possible killer (one of the suspects). They protected the suspect because she was treated badly by Blythe, and it’s “poetic justice” that it happened (their exact words). Just because Blythe was “mean” doesn’t give them a right to try and justify her murder, and it sickens me that this was the plot. This is all so wrong. The moral of the story should NEVER be “well they were a bad person so it’s not so bad if they get killed.” No, just no. I’m done with this series

Same great characters, not so great story

What did you like best about A Finely Knit Murder? What did you like least?

I enjoyed listening to the next chapter in one of my favorite series. It's almost like the characters are my own family and friends now.
On the other hand, the story seems far more drawn out than those in the past, too much filler without as much substance.

Would you recommend A Finely Knit Murder to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend the book if you have read the reast of the series.
